Strong local editorials that lay out the arguments and reach a conclusion. Newspaper gives prominence to opposing viewpoints and letter-writers as well as commentary from national writers. Second place Staff, The Indianapolis Star Comments: This newspaper is unafraid to devote the entire editorial page to issues that warrant attention. Strong display with graphics. Third Place Doug Ross, The Times (Munster) Comments: Editorials preview local issues and recommend action. Nice mix of columnists. Best Sports Section/Category 23 First place Staff, The Indianapolis Star Comments: Great-looking section. Super Bowl coverage was superb. The section is well-planned and provides a diversity of content that goes beyond the major sports. Excellent use of graphics and photos. Second place Staff, The Journal Gazette (Fort Wayne) Comments: A very well-designed section with beautiful typography. Strive for more diversity in content and more enterprising stories that go beyond daily game coverage. Third place Staff, South Bend Tribune Comments: An attractive section with some strong content. Assign a team member as cliche cop ��� too often the stories slip into tired sports stereotypes.
