Division 5 Best Special Section/Category 26 First place Our schools, our future Ron Wilkins, Michael Davis & Henry Howard, Journal & Courier (Lafayette) Comments: The editorial board did a tremendous service to its readers by leading the conversation on the troubling topic of school reform. The mix of board opinions and solicited expert opinions (including a parent as an expert!) gives readers a clear path to sorting out reform questions. Focused and well-presented. Second place 9/11 ��� Ten years later Staff, Tribune-Star (Terre Haute) Comments: Local voices speak powerfully in this commemorative section. It reflects impact on individuals and systems, on emotions and on decisions. Well-organized and boldly designed. Third place They���ve done it again: Fort Wayne Komets 2012 CHL Champs Brad Saleik, Fort Wayne News-Sentinel Comments: Beautifully designed cover that doubles as a poster. Excellent use of photos inside. Best Use of Graphics/Category 27 First place Treasure map; Mackey Arena; Buddy Holly Thomas Maxfield, Journal & Courier (Lafayette) Comments: Some really creative work done here. Superb visuals and useful information combine to draw readers��� attention. Second place Erosion eradication; Fuel efficiency jobs report; All together now Rodney Ogle, Kokomo Tribune Comments: Nice visuals and information. Third place No award given. Best Community Service/Category 29 First place BSU gives Gora 10 percent pay raise Seth Slabaugh, The Star Press (Muncie) Comments: Good job of holding the university accountable. Second place Grim choice for veterans David Smith, Journal & Courier (Lafayette) Comments: Nice work watching out for an oft-forgotten segment of the community.
