Deep Twitter and Facebook integration works well here for interaction. Second place www.ptlpnews.com Staff, The Times Post (Pendleton) Comments: Good customer-service utilities on the site, something which all too often is neglected. Third place ww.batesvilleheraldtribune.com Staff, The Herald-Tribune (Batesville) Comments: Clean access to a lot of community news and archives here. Competition comments: This group of entries does nice work at giving readers the tools they need to manage accounts, submit information, and otherwise interact. Division 2 First place www.bcdemocrat.com Staff, Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: Clean layout and attractive color schemes. I particularly liked the ���Hot topic��� menu, where top-of-mind community news is summarized nicely. Timelines break down specific topics nicely. Second place www.thedcregister.com Staff, Dearborn County Register (Lawrenceburg) Comments: Good arrangement of news; in-article hyperlinking is well-done. Third place No award given. Competition comments: Nice set of entries. As a whole, would like to see more content specifically tailored for the websites. Nice photography is highlighted, and photo galleries are stellar. In-article hyperlinks not overlooked. Competition comments: The sheer quantity of material for community news websites requires solid oversight and an ability to manage elements on an everyday basis. The use of news vs. ad space however on some of the sites is concerning.
