Division 2 Best Feature Photo/Category 19 First place Porcupine boat Bob Mattingly, Dearborn County Register (Lawrenceburg) Comments: This is a graphically strong and surreal photo that is also technically strong. Second place Ghost Bob Mattingly, Dearborn County Register (Lawrenceburg) Comments: This graphic photo juxtaposes unlikely elements to good effect. Third place Fishing Megan OBryan, Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: This unusual moment adds an extra element of interest. Two fishermen enjoy mild temperatures Jan. 9 as they drift in the Ohio River near Aurora. Multiple poles and lines increase their chances of catching fish. Best Multiple Picture Group/Category 20 First place Daddy daughter Alan Stewart, The Corydon Democrat Comments: We really liked this entry. Photographer approached this with just the right touch. Each image stands on its own, and together they really sing. Well-done. Second place Derby Lee Cable, Jo Ann Spieth-Saylor & Alan Stewart, The Corydon Democrat Comments: Nice variety in this entry made it work well. Establishing photos set the scene, and the close-ups bring the emotion. Third place Baptism Jo Ann Spieth-Saylor, The Corydon Democrat Comments: Photographer hustled to get a variety of scenes from this event. Good story-telling entry. Best Picture Story with Audio or Video Story/ Category 21 First place Harrison County Police Memorial Alan Stewart, The Corydon Democrat Comments: The video itself was very simple, but the message was powerful. Second place Antique tractor show Kevin Lilly, Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: This was a good topic to make a video of, and video provided several great views of how the machinery worked. Next time dont use so many different transitions between frames. Use the same one or its too cluttered. Third place Preston Highway String Band Alan Stewart, The Corydon Democrat Comments: The music pieced together flowed fairly well, and I really liked the toe tapping intro and finish of the video. Page 28 Capt. Jeffrey Neal dances with his 4-year-old daughter, Reaghan, at the Daddy-Daughter Dance at the YMCA of Harrison County. Neal said he had been deployed for two of his daughters four years and had just driven non-stop from Fort Hood, Texas en route to Fort Lee, Va., when his wife, Kimberly, suggested he take his daughter to the dance.
