They were married on September 23, 1962. Simpson-Foust Brian and Kristi Simpson, of Winslow, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jordan Dianne Simpson, to Stone Tyler Foust, the son of Kevin and Amy Foust, of Winslow. The future bride is a 2011 graduate of Pike Central High School and a 2015 graduate of Vincennes Univer- sity. She currently works at Select Specialty Hospital. The future bridegroom is a 2012 graduate of Pike Cen- tral High School and is attending Ivy Tech College. He currently works at Toyota. The couple plans to marry on October 14, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Petersburg. With This Ring... 'Talk Saves Lives' topic at OC Library, Oct. 19 October 19 at 6 p.m. the Oakland City-Columbia Twp. Public Library will host a very important dis- cussion. "Talk Saves Lives," presented by the Indiana Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The community-based pre- sentation will cover the general scope of suicide, research on prevention, and what people can do to fight suicide. Learn about who sui- cide affects, what we know about it, and what can be done to prevent it. The program will be pre- sented by Davarna Bond, Gibson Co. Out of the Dark- ness Walk Chair and AF- SP Indiana Chapter volun- teer. Davarna is dedicat- ed to bringing suicide and mental health education to our community after the loss of her daughter, Day- na, to suicide. The program is free for anyone wanting to learn more and will be in the library meeting room. 60th Anniversary for Jefferson Twp Ruritan In the fall of 1957, a group of men met at Scraper Sales in Otwell with the intent to start a club that would work to help the community— the club became the Jeffer- son Township Ruritan Club. The charter was signed by forty-eight gentlemen on October 10, 1957. The club was sponsored by the Advisory Committee of the Agriculture Department of Otwell High School. The charter executive officers were: president, Thurman Brown; vice-president, George T. Traylor; secre- tary, Thomas Gray; trea- surer, Posey N. Scraper; and directors Hilbert Bu- chta, Russell Ruckreigle and Paul D. Hollis. Over the past sixty years, the club has been instru- mental in working on nu- merous community proj- ects, helping families and individuals in times of need, sponsoring scholarships for graduating high school se- niors, and hosting the annu- al 4th of July celebrations. The club diligently works to uphold the Ruritan Na- tional motto of "Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service." There will be an Open House Reception on Sun- day, October 8 from 2-4 p.m. at the Jefferson Town- ship (Otwell) Communi- ty Center dining room. All past, present, and interest- ed future members and their families are invited to attend. Several district of- ficers will also be in atten- dance to celebrate the an- niversary. If anyone has pictures or other memorabilia to share, bring it (labeled) to the re- ception. There will be a ta- ble set up for these items.
