With the win, the Chargers became the first boys' soccer squad in the PAC to go undefeated against con- ference foes while allowing zero goals. "We did something that no one else has been able to do," said senior goalkeeper Tyler Tormohlen, who re- corded a total of 61 saves in 559 minutes against PAC opponents this season. "Shutting out the conference is a huge accomplishment, especially considering the tough teams that we have. It means a lot to us." Senior Kyson Western, who scored the match's only goal when he chested a cross by senior Breyton Book- er into the goal with 12:45 left in the first half, agreed. "That's amazing," Kyson Western said. "It's just great teamwork from our goalie and our midfield and our de- fense. Everybody just played great." Pike Central, ranked No. 5 in Class 2A, improved to 14-2-1 and 7-0 in the PAC, while Forest Park slipped to 3-12 overall and 3-4 in the PAC. Two nights earlier, the Rangers had battled Gibson Southern to a 0 -0 tie before defeating the Titans 4-3 on penalty kicks. "I came up here and watched that game and what I saw was a 0 -0 game, very similar to our game with (Gibson Southern)," Chargers head coach Chad West- ern said. "A lot of defense, not many opportunities, re- ally packing it in, in that back third and right in front of it, which is what they did against us, too. So they limit- ed some opportunities." "We knew they were a great team," Kyson Western said. "They tied Gibson, just like we did, and beat them in PKs, so we knew it was going to be a battle. We just knew we were going to have to show up and we were go- ing to have to try to get an early goal and play defense – just like we usually do." "We knew this would be a rough one," Tormohlen added.
