Klipsch said a mistake in ordering a bracket to attach this arm caused a delay. "It was supposed to only be five days, but we are going on three weeks now." He said the company agreed to go ahead and install the streetlights even though it is easier for the contractor to as- semble them on the ground before they are put in place. "It is getting dark sooner and we need to have lights on Main St.," said Klipsch. Included in the project will be new trash cans and bench- es along Main St. "This all started sever- al years ago when the street lights fell," said Klipsch. Three more lights are go- ing to be added to the project between Ninth and 10th Sts. Klipsch said Petersburg will pay for one pole to be installed at the corner of 10th and Main Sts. "There always was a light there," said Klipsch. The Presbyterian Church will pay for the other two lights to be installed. Petersburg will also get new traffic signals, which is an In- diana Department of Trans- portation project. STREET REPAIRS STARTING SOON The large cuts in Main St. for a new water line installa- tion are scheduled to be re- paired in the next two weeks. Klipsch said INDOT will pave over the large areas now filled with sand. "I thought our contractor doing the line installation would do this, but INDOT wanted to do it, because they are going to be paving Main St. next Spring." In other paving news, Pe- tersburg Mayor Klipsch said the Community Crossroads paving grant announced in late Spring has been award- ed to Calcar paving, but they have said it won't take place until next Spring as well. Klipsch told said the Re- development Council voted to recommend a TIF district be established around the ar- ea near Hornady Park, where a new housing subdivision is being developed. He said pub- UPDATES Continued from page 1 lic hearings have been sched- uled for November 1 and 3. The council also set Hallow- een Trick or Treat hours as 5 to 8 p.m. on October 31. "These are a recommendation by the City Police," said Klipsch. In other business, Klipsch said City Services Manager Ross Elmore underwent emer- gency triple bypass surgery re- cently, but is recovering nice- ly. He said he has been send- ing emails and corresponding with contractors about ques- tions on projects already. The next city council meet- ing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, October 17.
