On Wednesday, the Char- gers beat Wood Memorial in a close match, 1-0 as Ridao scored on an assist from Nel- son in the second half. The win improves the Chargers to 10 -7 overall and 7-5 in the con- ference. The Chargers ended the season on a four-game win streak "In both games the field conditions made it very dif- ficult for us to play the pass- ing game that we like to," said Charger Coach David Hay. "Southridge and Wood Me- morial were good physically strong opponents so it was great to see us match them physically and also adapt our style a little bit to find a way to win. Both games gave us a chance to try things that we have been working on in practice in a real game sit- uation so it was good to see what worked and what didn't before going into sectional," said Hay. "Winning our last four games gives us great mo- mentum going into the tour- nament, but we know we will have to be at our best to achieve what we want to next week," said Hay. Pike Central drew a bye in the first round of the sec- tional and will play in the sec- ond round of the Washing- ton Sectional at 6 p.m. on Wednesday against the win- ner of the Washington-South- ridge game. Southridge is 1-12 on the season and Washington is 12-4.
