Said Cassie, "Two locations in Shelby are Child Care Connections in downtown Shelby as well as Shelby Child Care. The Shelby cen- ters were to be done by 1 p.m., with the Kings Mountain centers finished later in the day." This was done to celebrate early childhood educators as heroes in the recent COVID-19 pandemic. These folks, noted Ms. Allen, help take care of the children of the nurses and others who are on the front lines in the coronavirus fight. The Cleveland County Partnership for Children is located at 105 E. Ridge St., Kings Mountain. Construction is expected to be complete in approximately 18 months. "We are looking forward to fi nally breaking ground on this project," said Jason Hurst, president. "A lot of hard work has taken place to get us to this point." In late 2015, CCC's Board of Trustees voted to begin the process of building an Advanced Manufacturing Center, later renamed the Ad- vanced Technology Center. Since that time, College representatives have made numerous visits to similar facilities at community colleges around the country, secured funding, selected a project designer, developed designs for the building and se- cured state approval for the building plans. The Advanced Technology Center will be located along Marion Street on the CCC cam- pus. It will be a two-story building with approx- imately 45,000 square feet of space. The building will have high-bay technical training spaces and a fi ve-ton crane for in- dustry-related training. The building will also house an industrial training room available for use by CCC's industry partners. In addition, CCC's programs in Automation Engineering Technology, Computer-Integrat- ed Machining, Electronics Engineering Tech- nology and Mechanical Drafting Technology will move into the new facility with room to expand.
