North Carolina law requires students entering the seventh grade to be up-to-date on all the vaccines required for kin- dergarten entry. In addition, students need one dose of Tdap vaccine (Tetanus, Diph- theria, Pertussis) and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine. Students entering the twelfth grade must be up-to- date on all vaccines required for kindergarten and seventh grade entry. Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, twelfth graders are required to have a booster dose meningococcal conjugate vaccine. North Car- olina law provides for some exemptions to these require- ments in certain cases. Drive-thru vaccine clinics for each Cleveland County school zone will be provided accord- ing to the following schedule: Tuesday, June 2: Crest High School 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 3: Shelby High School 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Thursday, June 4: Burns Middle School 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm Friday, June 5: Kings Mtn. Middle School 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm "We recognize that COVID-19 has made it more diffi cult for parents to access necessary immunizations for their children. In an ef- fort to help ensure students are prepared to start school next year with their required vaccines, we are partner- ing with Cleveland County Schools to provide these drive-thru vaccine clinics," said DeShay Oliver, Deputy Director, Cleveland County Public Health Center. "Pro- viding these vaccines in a drive-thru setup not only makes it convenient for parents, but also helps to decrease risk of potential exposure to COVID-19 by operating outside and allow- ing participants to remain in their vehicles," Oliver added. Want to speed up the pro- cess? Pre-registration infor- mation will be e-mailed to all Cleveland County Schools' rising seventh and twelfth graders. While pre-regis- tration is not required, it is encouraged. A parent sig- nature is required for all vac- cines provided to students under the age of sixteen. Please bring proof of insur- ance/Medicaid if available for all students receiving a vaccine. For more information or questions, you may contact the Cleveland County Public Health Center School Health Program at 980-484-5211. Oliver CLEVELAND COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT By Loretta Cozart On Friday, May 15, the SBA and De- partment of the Treasury released the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loan Forgiveness Ap- plication. To apply for loan forgiveness, the borrower needs to complete the supplied application, following the in- structions, and submit to their lender after the eight week loan period. The application has four components: 1) the PPP Loan Forgiveness Calculation Form; 2) PPP Schedule A; 3) the PPP Schedule A Worksheet, and: 4) the optional PPP Borrower De- mographic Information Form. All borrowers must submit items 1 and 2 to their lender. In a rush to get the loans out to millions of businesses, details about how the loan pro- gram works were forthcom- SBA releases PPP Loan Forgiveness Application ing. Now the SBA is releasing updates using its online FAQ sheet which leaves many busi- ness owners concerned their loan won't comply. What was understood about the loan yes- terday could change tomorrow, or the next day, or the next, making it very difficult for small businesses to keep up with those changes. According to the Cleveland County Chamber's online pre- sentation on May 15, the best way to ensure a business loan will be forgiven is to use the funds as intended and carefully document how the money is spent. Businesses should reach out to their lender for advice early, since loan forgiveness applications are sent to the same lender who made the loan, and each lender does things differently. To download a PDF of the loan forgiveness application, visit https://home.treasury. gov/ and search Paycheck Protection Program Borrower Application Form. Your lender may also offer the form online.
