He was born in Cleveland County, NC on March 31, 1944 to the late Minnie Hilyard and Guy Jones. Willie was retired from the construction industry. He was an avid sports fan and was particularly fond of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved golf and was a caddy in his younger days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Kintaris Jones, Miranda Jones and Kenneth Jones and three brothers, West Carson, John Lewis Hardin and "Boot" Jones. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife of 54 years, Brenda Jones; his children, Katrinka Bush (Russell) of CA, Kecia Jones of KY, Kimberly Jones of SC, Keenan Jones (Frannie) of Shelby, NC, Keyton Jones (Katrina M. Jones), Kuriowa Jones (Roxie), Shelia Crenshaw-Wilson and Joann three great-grandchildren, Nataleigh Miller, Tanner Welch, and Jensen Turrill will arrive in June. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Jim Yarbro, Jr., and two grand- sons, Casey Sellers and Colt Sellers. Graveside services were held Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, 1017 Bethlehem Road, Kings Mountain, NC at 2:00 pm with Rev. Eric Sellers and Rev. Steve Taylor officiat- ing. Travis Turrill, Michael Yarbro, Matt Yarbro, Samson Truelove, Josh Humphries, Caleb Yarbro, Camden Yarbro, Leslie Yarbro, and Junior Green will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605. MARIE PHILLIPS CALLAHAN Marie Phillips Callahan, 80, died Thursday, May 7, 2020, at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Gladys and Savannah Camp Phillips. She owned and operated Callahan Reality for many years, and was a mem- ber of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Frank Callahan Jr. of Cherryville, Mike Callahan and wife Kathy of Shelby, and Keith Callahan and wife Kim of Kings Mountain; daughter, Cindy Elumbaugh and hus- band Steve of Arkansas; sis- ters, Martha Lail of Charlotte and Mary Goins of Easley, SC; seven grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. A graveside service was held 1 pm, Monday, May 11, 2020, in Cleveland Memorial Hazel will lay in state on Sunday, May 10, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. WILMA "WILLIE" JOLLY CARNEY Wilma "Willie" Jolly Carney, age 93 of Shelby, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 30, 2020. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Carney and wife Susan of Cary, NC, and Robert Carney of Shelby, NC. Wilma was born March 17, 1927 in Iredell County, NC, to the late Grady and Grace (Mason) Jolly and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert George Carney, a brother, Harold Jolly, and two sisters, Dorothy Parker and Pauline Jolly. Willie was an avid and energetic gardener, learning how to raise tobacco, cotton, vegetables, and livestock at her parents' small truck farm. Her green thumb persisted through her married years as she raised flowers and vegetables for her family and friends. Music was another love of Willie's life and she was unusually talented. She learned to play the guitar and sing as a child, form- ing a duet with her younger sister Dorothy. They became a professional country/west- ern act and toured as the Jolly Sisters, making many radio and television appear- ances, including the Grand Degree (Roscoe) all of NC; one sister, Annie Ruth Jones of Shelby, NC; 33 grand- children; 41 great-grandchil- dren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Due to recent coronavi- rus state guidelines limiting the size of gatherings, the service for Mr. Jones was private. NED TRUMAN YARBRO Kings Mountain -- Ned Truman Yarbro, 85, of 728 Bethlehem Church Road, passed away Sunday, May 10th, 2020, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. Born in Kings Mountain, he was the husband of Mary Wilson "Scottie" Yarbro and the son of the late Lee Yarbro and Mary Ethel Blalock Yarbro. Mr. Yarbro retired as a truck driver with Carolina Freight and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Yarbro is survived by five sons, Tony Yarbro, Jamie Yarbro, Alan Yarbro and wife, Angie, Randy Yarbro and wife, Ashlea, and Tim Yarbro; one daughter, Shannon Y. Sellers and husband, Rev. Eric Sellers; eleven grand- children, Michael Yarbro, Brooke S. Turrill and hus- band, Travis, Dakota Smart, Josh Humphries, Caleb Yarbro and wife, Maddie, Matt Yarbro, Samson Truelove, Mary Kaitlyn Sellers, Taylor Yarbro, Aleiyah Yarbro, and Camden Yarbro; and Park, with the Rev. Dr. Tim Sims officiating. The family received friends 11:30am- 12:30pm, prior to the grave- side, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. HAZEL BLANTON BOWEN Hazel Blanton Bowen, 85, of Kings Mountain, NC, entered her Heavenly home on May 8, 2020. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Landrum Newton and Eunice Ramsey Blanton and was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Reverend Billy Bowen. Hazel was also preceded in death by a son, David Bowen, son-in-law, Perry Nolen, her brothers, Howard, Edward, Lloyd and Garlin Blanton and her sisters, Ruth Green, Lois Ivester, Helen Layman, Katherine McGinnis, Martha Murray and Sue Suggs. Hazel was a dedicated min- ister's wife and member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church in Shelby where she taught Sunday School. She loved people and was the most generous lady you could know. Hazel was a Mother to the entire congre- gation at Way of the Cross. She enjoyed reading, solv- ing puzzles and feeding her family and friends. Hazel was a wonderful person who touched the lives of not only her family, but countless people over the years. She will be missed tremendous- ly by her loving family and many friends. ADDIE SUE HARTGROVE FEASTER Mrs. Addie Sue Hartgrove Feaster, 79, of, 259 Roseborough Rd. Grover, NC passed away on Sunday May 3, 2020 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC on June 12, 1940 to the late Earnest Hartgrove and Victoria Degree Hartgrove. She worked at Grover Industries and was an active member of Ellis Chapel Baptist Church until her declining health. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Feaster was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Wilson Feaster Sr.; one great- grandson, Ke'hlin German and three sisters, Odessa Robbs, Shirley Brooks and Margaret Feaster: one broth- er Richard Hartgrove.
