KYLE HUMBARGER Kyle Shane Humbarger passed away on September 23, 2022, at Jasper Memori- al. He was born in Jasper on November 9, 1983 to Rebec- ca & Shane Humbarger and his later adopted dad, Jamie Keller. Kyle is sur vived by his 4 children, Whitney Humbarg- er, attending cosmetology school in Indianapolis; As- pen Humbarger, in college at IUPUI for pre-med; Hunter Humbarger attends Pike Cen- tral High School & Eli Hum- barger, 3; his mother Becky Keller; father Jamie Keller (Tenille Keller); brother Zach (Kim Keller); sister Saman- tha (Nate Willis) and brother, Max Keller, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, un- cles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kent & Mar y Jane Humbarger, Virlee & Gaylord Schuch, and Phyl- lis and Charlie Keller. Kyle grew up in Otwell with his two brothers and sister, and attended Pike Central High School. His favorite memories included his siblings and he loved his family and children. Kyle didn't see his children often but when he did, you could tell the love he had for them was real. Kyle enjoyed nature, camp- ing, hunting and fishing, and loved to collect arrowheads. Ever yone who knew Kyle, knows he had a big hear t and thrived to be better. He will be missed by many. His family would like to thank the staf f at Memorial Hospital and the Team at In- diana Donor Network. With their help Kyle was able to gift many organs including his lungs, liver, kidneys, hear t, and skin tissue. He ended his life saving many others' lives and will continue to bless those families for the rest of their lives. Kyle will be cremated and his family will have a private ceremony together in honor of Kyle. Gregor y, 68, passed away at his Peters- burg residence, on September 18, 2022. He was born in Chicago, Ill., October, 19, 1953, to Clarence and Margie (Evans) Gregor y. He was the owner of Tim's Appliances in Washington. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his great nieces and nephews. He is sur vived by his sister, Sandra (Bob) Tarter, of India- napolis; a niece; two nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Darrell Gregor y. Funeral ser vices will be at 1 p.m. on September 29, 2022, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuar y, 620 East Viola Avenue, Wash- ington, with Reverend Chad Searls and Reverend Darrell York officiating. Interment will follow at the Wheatland Cemeter y. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of ser vice. GEORGE GUMBEL George Franklin Gumbel, 77, of Petersburg, IN passed away September 18 in New- burgh, IN. He was born Jan- uar y 27, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, IN to Arthur P. and Mar y Ann (Pennington) Gumbel. He was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School Class of 1963. He served in the National Guard as a Cannoneer. George spent his life proudly working on his family farm in Mt. Ver- non. He was a proud member of the White River Chapel Church in Bowman, past mem- ber of the 4-H Council, and member of Farm Bureau. George loved to go camping and loved to fish, as long as he was catching them. He has been best described as a "sim- ple man who loved the land". George is survived by his wife, Judith E. (Kinman) Wood Gumbel; sons, Geoffrey J. (Su- san) Wood and David M. Wood; grandchildren, Michael (An- drea) Wood, Mallory (Nicholas) Terry, D.J. (Valerie) Wood, and Travis (Vicki) Wood; grandchil- dren, Addison Crum, Kinnley Crum, Liam Terry, Elliot Ter- ry, Harper Wood, Knox Wood, Crew Wood, and Ella Jo Wood; sisters-in-law Bonnie (David) Weathers and Carla (Greg) Wil- lis, nieces and nephews, Tammy (Mike) Johnson, Teresa Lugo, Nathan (Samantha) Willis, Tom (Ashley) Willis, Kinsey (Trent) Barrett, Brook (Jim) Strahle, and Brian Weathers and many grandnieces and grand neph- ews. MARILYN JOYCE PADGET T Marilyn Joyce Padgett, 84, of Otwell, passed away Sep- tember 20, 2022, in Jasper. She was born September 1, 1938 in Otwell, to Marion and Rosalie (Dillon) Patton. She worked for 20 years for Memorial Hospital in Jasper as a CNA. She was a 50 year member of the Washington Eastern Star Lodge #210 and ser ved as a Past Grand Ma- tron. She was also a proud member of the Otwell United Methodist Church in Otwell. She spent 59 years of mar- riage with her late husband, Richard Padgett Sr. She is sur vived by her sons, Richard Harold (Kim) Padgett, Jr., of Otwell and Ron- ald Allen (Pam) Padgett, of Wewahitchka, Fla.; grandchil- dren, Andrea (Nate) Readle, Keith Padgett, Ashley (James) Taunton, Angela (Brittany Brown) Padgett, Mark (Sharo- nah) Fowler, Hannah Padgett, Jeorgia Padgett, Kyle (Jaisi) Fowler, Shaun (Jamie) Fos- ter, and Tom (Kelly) Foster; 19 great-grandchildren; five gr eat-gr eat-grandchildr en; and several nieces and neph- ews. She is preceded in death by her husband; her par- ents; daughter, Peggy Sue Foster; granddaughter, Adrienne (Bob) Sullivan; brothers, Rober t Patton and an infant child; and sisters, Nelda Hof fman and Glenda Vaughn. ROGERS Dale E. Rogers, 71, passed away at his Odon residence, September 9, 2022. He was born in Oakland City, to Charles E. and Doris (Burdett) Rogers on Novem- ber 12, 1950. He married Sar- ah (Spath) Rogers on April 6, 1984, and she sur vives. He ser ved his countr y hon- orably in the United States Navy. He retired after thir- ty-seven years from NWSC (Crane) where he was an ex- plosives handler. He enjoyed fishing and loved to do yard work. He was a WHS class of 1969 graduate. He is sur vived by his wife, Sarah Rogers; two sisters, Mar y (Lester) Hume, of Rock- ville, Ill. and Jackie (Jack) Hamm, of Petersburg; and one brother, Butch (Rita) Rog- ers, of Jasper. The staff of the Ed Lee Mortuar y was honored to have been entrusted with his arrangements. BILLY O. SHELTON Billy O. Shelton, 83, of Winslow, passed away Thurs- day, September 22, 2022. He was born on Januar y 25, 1939 in Hopkinsville, Ky., to the late Cecil and Rissie (Prof- itt) Shelton. He retired after 20 years from Chr ysler as an inspector. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He was loved and will be missed beyond mea- sure. He is sur vived by his chil- dren, Kimberly (Bill) Hack- ney, Paul (Darlene) Shelton, Fred (Vicki) Shelton, and Lori (Brian) Embr y; grandkids, David, Christina, Anthony, JD, James, Melissa, Becky, Bran- don, Amanda, Daniel, and Robin; and many great-grand- children. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Glen Shelton; brother, William Shelton; and sisters, Delores Gelinas and Dorothy Neilson. A funeral ser vice was at 1 p.m. CST Monday, September 26, 2022, at Corn-Colvin Fu- neral Home, in Oakland City, with Pastor Gene Burkhart officiating. K ARLA K. KEITH Karla K. Keith, 78, of Peters- burg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. She was born at home on May 12, 1944, in Pike County. Karla was a former member of the Free Methodist Church as well as the Lighthouse. She owned and solely operat- ed Karla's Countr y Flowers in Ayrshire in the mid-1980s. She was employed as group leader at Armour Foods in Washington, Red & White Grocer y, as well as operating super visor at Perdue Farms. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved planting flowers, gardening, and crafts. She also enjoyed playing cards and go- ing to Bingo with friends. Her greatest love, though, was her family. She was known as "Nan- ny" to all her grandkids and great grandkids, totaling 21. Karla was married to Jerr y "Coffee" Keith for 24 years, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Adron and Reba Stafford, son Gregor y L. Stafford, granddaughter, Shaylee Stafford Earley; and brothers Rick & Randy Staf- ford. She is sur vived by her son Geoffrey P. Keith of Winslow and daughter Melinda K. Keith of Petersburg. Funeral ser vices were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Septem- ber 27, 2022, at O.D.
