The Lady Chargers lost on Thursday night to a strong Gibson Souther n squad, 3-0. "Gibson Souther n is the best team in the PAC and will be undefeated in con- ference. They are a top 10 team in the state all year, and the best team we play," said Charger Coach Chad Wester n. "We had a couple chanc- es early to score with Anna Whitehead, Kennedy Willis and Kahle Young putting pressure on their defense," said Western. A late score in the first half left the Titans leading at half- time. They added two more in the second half for the 3-0 win. "We played really well and fought the whole time to de- fend and keep them from scoring," said Western. The girls played South Spencer on Saturday in an evenly matched game. South Spencer got a goal midway through the first half. Pike Central got on the board when Keena Young threw the ball in and made a cross to the back side of the goal where Kennedy Willis scored to tie the game before the end of the first half. "We played well all night," said Western South Spencer scored a second goal in the second half to get the win. "Lainey Leighty played well in goal and our defense played great with Lillian Thompson, Keena Young, and Jaylynn Capehart an- choring our defense," said Western. PC DRAWS VINCENNES LINCOLN Pairing for the girls' soc- cer sectional at Jasper were released over the weekend. Pike Central will play Vin- cennes Lincoln in the first round at 5:30 p.m. on Tues- day, October 4 at the Jasper High School Sports complex. Vincennes Lincoln is 5-8-1 on the season. Princeton plays Southridge in the second game on Tues- day. Thursday the winners of the Tuesday night games will face each other in the 5:30 p.m. game followed by Wash- ington against Jasper in the second game on Thursday. The winners will play at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $7 for a single session or $15 for a season ticket. PC tennis falls to Princeton, Vincennes By Andy Heuring Press-Dispatch Sports sports@pressdispatch.net Pike Central's tennis team dropped two matches last week with Princeton and Vin- cennes. On Wednesday the Chargers fell 5-0 to Princ- eton. Eli Arnold at number one singles fell to senior Cade Hunt 6-1, 6-0. At number two sin- gles, Adon Lemond lost 6-1, 6-0 to Liam Stone. Charger Nate Carter lost by the same score to Princeton's Jarrett Kinder. In doubles play Parker Knust and JJ Belmore at number 1 while Kaden Englert and Ethan Mann at number two double both lost 6-0, 6-0. On Thursday the Chargers lost to Vincennes 4-1. Arnold at number one singles won the first set 6-4, but then lost 6-3 in the second set and 6-0 in the third set. Lemond at number two singles was just the opposite. He lost the first set 6-4, then won 6-1 and 6-0 in the deciding set. Carter at number three singles lost to Luke Hall 6-0 and 6-4. Knust and Belmore at number one double lost 6-4 and 6-3. Engler and Mann lost 6-1 and 6-1 at number two doubles. The pairings for the boys tennis sectional were released on Monday. Pike Central plays in the Jasper Sectional. They will play Forest Park at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Jasper. South- ridge and Jasper will also play on Wednesday. The winners of both matches will play each other at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the sectional championship.
