came across three child seats that looked fine so hey maybe we can sell them. Let me warn you about what we have found out about them, they have expiration dates and all three of the ones we had in the storage attic were past expiration dates. I don't know about you but selling something with an dated ex- piration date sounds like a libility suit looking for a place to happen. On a personal level I see no reason for one of these car seats to be unusable but the engineers do so there you have it. I don't know why my wife and I have heated discussions whenever we have a day to ourelves, but if we don't make a plan to go here or to do this our free days sudden- ly become battle grounds. A situation to solve since all we need to do is open a conver- sation as soon as we realize our chance at a free day. Our free day was nearly ruined totally because of an impasse of minds. We ended up doing what my wife wanted to do, which was fine with me, but we had done damage to one another's feelings which just takes time and some major making up to overcome. We had some folks come to look at firewood. Some of this wood is so heavy we ac- tually need some mechanical help to move them. It would be super dooper fire wood if you could get it to the split- ter. We are getting closer to finding this wood a new home. The Buffalo Fest was over the weekend and there was lots of talent listed. My wife and I are friends with Conner Loveless and he is a real good kid. We may all have the op- portunity to say I knew him when because he just keeps getting better and better. I didn't hear the rest of the en- tertainers so I can't say much concerning them. I had the opportunity to bring God's word to the people at Little's church and we had a good ser vice with them. Glad for the chance to preach His word. Now for our normal challenge please go out into the world and be a blessing to all you come into contact with. The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, September 28, 2022 D-3 Lutheran ST. Romans 5:8 tells us," For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." I often find it difficult to live out this verse. The daily news casts seem to show us tragedy and acts of violence cast on indi- viduals and families at home and around the world. We rarely see messages of hope, good will, neighborly conduct or plain acts of kindness any- more. It is truly difficult to not be concerned about the state of human society. But don't lose faith. We can change this world. The apostle Paul was right when he wrote Ro- mans 5:8. God works through the blessings and kindnesses found in simple things to feed our souls and renew our spir- its. After I have spent time in prayer and/or reading my Bible it is easier for me to see God's blessings and find strength to face each day. SR 56 Bowman 812-582-8896 Sunday worship 9 a.m.; Sun- day school 10:15 a.m. We are exploring the words in Philippians 4:4-9 and how did what was "right in the sight of the Lord." His neigh- bors honored and feared him. God was with him. One day, his pride got the best of him. He went into the temple to burn incense on the altar of incense. This was a major transgression of the Law because only priests could enter the holy to burn incense. The priests rebuked the king, but he wouldn't lis- ten. Suddenly, he became leprous. And by the Law of leprosy, he was unclean and lived the rest of his life sep- arated from his people. He died a leprous outcast (2 Chr 26). How a person died is as important as how they lived. Death is that last punctuation mark in a person's life. As a Christian we want to die in the faith. It often gives the last testimony. My brother died of brain cancer, testifying to the end, "I'm not giving up, I'm go- ing to be with Jesus!" I have known many people like him facing death strong in the faith. Stephen was a deacon in the first church. The crowd stoned him to death for giv- ing his testimony of Jesus. James was the first apostle martyred for his testimony of Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, the centurion said, "Truly, this Man was the Son of God!" Everyone's life is an open book which anyone can read. Millions idolized the kings of pop and rock. Behind the façade of success was heart- break and loneliness. They died alone before they were 50 years old. The cause of death, drug addiction and a victim of their own successes. Judas Iscariot was one of the 12 disciples. He died by his own hand, guilt-rid- den over the wickedness he caused. Unlike Queen Elizabeth, King David, Uzziah, or Elvis, most people's books never make the New York Times bestseller list or fodder for the National Enquirer tab- loid. Only a few people know our shortcomings. Even when a person of dubious reputation dies, most people gloss over the rough edges, remembering the good they did. Not so with God. The Bible is not the Good Ship Lollipop. No one gets a participation award. Ev- er yone falls short because ever yone has sinned. Not only does God see the spar- row that falls, he sees the politician for sale, justice per verted, the rich taking ad- vantage of the poor, the thief in the night, the assassin in the darkness, the ruler who rules wisely and the fool that reigns. The prophet Malachi says God is writing a book of re- membrance. Jesus said ev- er yone will give an account of ever y idle word spoken. John the Revelation says God is keeping books he will use on judgment day. Paul says we must all stand before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account, whether it is good or bad. In short, no one is getting away with anything. Not even a king or queen. After King Uzziah died, Isaiah saw the Lord sitting on his throne, being worshiped by the host of heaven. God was still on the throne. Heav- en was not in crisis. The only question on God's mind was, "who will go speak for me?" Which king are you listen- ing to? they permitted it. As to the crucifixion of Christ, they demanded it (Luke23:23,24). As to the stoning of Stephen, they committedit, casting him out of the city with their own hands and stoning him there. And so that generation in Israel committed the un- pardonable sin which our Lord warned would not be forgiven, either in that age, or in the age to come. Thus we close this article by quot- ing those precious passages from Paul's epistles which clearly DENY the possibili- tyof any "unpardonable sin" during the present "dispensa- tion of the grace of God": "We have redemption through His blood, THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS, according to the riches of His grace" (Eph.1:7). "Moreover the law en- tered, that the offence might abound. BUT WHERE SIN ABOUNDED, GRACE DID MUCH MORE ABOUND: that as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righ- teousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord" (Rom.5:20,21). So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the King- dom of God, and His righ- teousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Mat- thew 6:33). What things will be added? (Oatsville), Petersburg 618-302-1608 Dear Friends, Have you ever made a bad decision in your life? We all probably have at one time or another. There is a stor y in Acts 27:9-14 about a bad decision involving the Apostle Paul when he was prisoner being shipped to Rome. It ended up that the ship he was on became shipwrecked and all because of some bad deci- sion. 1. Because of impatience, a bad decision was made-Acts 27:8-10 , they needed to set sail because they had spent too much time where they were at. 2. Because of bad advice, they set sail when they should have stayed in port (vs. 11). The Centurean was persuaded to leave on the advice of expe- rienced sailors. 3. Because the majority de- cided that we should sail on (vs. 12). We have been taught that the majority rules in making a group decision (also vs. 11). 4. They wanted to think they were making the right decision (vs. 13), "the south winds blew gently." But vs 14 the winds changed. Set your sail towards God and make the right decision. Join us each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. for Bible study; 10:30 a.m. for worship. We are a friendly church that welcomes ever yone. The Bible tells us we need to attend church so we can worship God with other believers and be taught His Word for our spiritual growth. Reason to go to church even when you don't feel like it 1. To hear the preaching of the word. 2. To participate with other believers. 3. To encouragement and strength your faith. 4. To exercise your gift. 5. To encourage your Pas- tor. These are only a few of the reason to attend church. What is your reason?
