D-6 Home Life Wednesday, September 13, 2017 The Press-Dispatch been lit. The Patoka River last weekend was high but with no rain last week the river is quite low and that brought in the burn ban in Pike Coun- ty. We might get some rain from Irma but the weather people have no idea how far it will come up in our area as of Sunday. Last week was a busy week but on Saturday there were two Winslow events to participate in the 29th Poehlein Fall Bass Tour- ney in the morning and the Winslow Lions Club Pageant at the evening time. The 29th Poehlein Fall Bass Tourney winners are: 1st Place: Lincoln Poe- hlein and Hunter Croak with 21lbs 13oz, 2nd Place: Greg Poehlein and Dan Oakley with 20lbs, 3rd Place: Tom- my Oakley and TJ Alward with 19lbs 5oz, 4th Place: Rod Kendle and Jeff Kend- le, and 5th Place: Bo Dillon and Ashton Evans. The Biggest Bass was caught by Hunter Croak weighing in at 6lbs 11oz. Congrats to all our stars and may your fishing contin- ue. See you all in the Spring of 2018, same times and same place. The Winslow Lions Club Pageant was a hit by all who watched this fun for all who were there. As the baby boys of 4 were announced the oohs and awes were heard or a laugh at their personal- ity, they were so cute, and then came the princess of 4 who had their joy to be a star, then the Jr Miss of 5 who were so happy to be a star with the company of new friends. This was the first pageant for most of these stars and they did so really well in rehearsals and on the stage in front of their family and friends. Former Winslow Lions Club Prin- cess was there and a new Queen of Lions Internation- al, the judges were Pat and Patty with a third star if a tie. To Linda Nelson and all the Nelson helpers and friends, we all Thank You for bring- ing the Winslow Lions Club Pageant enjoyable and fun for everyone. The Winslow Lions Pag- eant pictures are in this week Press-Dispatch some- where with all our stars who won and had fun doing it. Our granddaughter Kyana won Jr. Miss Runner-Up 3rd place and we are so proud of her in her first pageant. Congrats to Kyana and all our stars for a well done pag- eant of fun. Sunday was the 43rd Mey- er Family Reunion of George and Laura Meyer where we met at a new location, Tem- ple Hills in Scottsburg. The shelter house was large enough for the great number of cousins and their families, plus Mildred (mom), Aunt Jean, and Aunt Donna. We haven't seen Aunt Donna for years but she has just moved back into Indiana. Aunt Lou couldn't come. It took me a long time to eat my plate of food cause I can't talk and chew at the same time. Talked to sever- al cousins, saw the young- sters play and have lots of fun especially the bouncy ball from Terri Ann, and talked and laughed with several cousins. We all had brought in delicious meals and snacks that some of us had to sample everything and they all were all yummy. Oh! There will be a new addition through marriage of Aaron Meyer who will marry Leslie Labhart in a private ceremony on Oc- tober 13. Congrats to you both. Aaron's parents are Mike and Roberta and his grandma is Aunt Jean Mey- er. In our Meyer Family we were one less but I believe George "Bud" Meyer was right there laughing and calling me Grandma Lau- ra or just Grandma, but he was there when I as Grand- ma gave Don Meyer a spank- ing with a switch. Now this was all done in fun! We got pictures. To all my cousins who couldn't make it this year, we all are going to meet here at Temple Hills on the 2nd Sun- day in September in 2018, so see you all then! I guess the rambling should stop for this week but so I say keep an eye on fam- ily and friends, slow down, and enjoy your part of this world, and always smile, wave, and say Hi to everyone you see this week. Oh, one more thing – do you have your item all lit up for the Light Up Winslow Parade?!? It's Saturday of this week!
