In memory of Coco, the dog that was euthanized due to extensive burns at the hand of an abuser (still at large), Association for the Welfare of Animals is hosting... Blessing of the Animals. Do you love your pet? Do you miss a pet you once had? If so, you will soon have an opportunity to honor or memorialize them! Association for the Welfare of Animals is extending an invitation to all current and past owners of pets to join us on the Court Square in Shelby at 6PM on October 3 for our First Annual Blessing of the Animals. Bring your pet to this short but meaningful ceremony where all animals’ lives will be blessed, and luminaries will be lit in honor and memory of those that we love and have loved. Association for the Welfare of Animals and Pastor Roy Byers will lend special thoughts concern- ing our relationship with God’s creatures, and our responsibilities to them. You may purchase luminaries in honor of the pets you now share you life with, and also in memory of those precious ones that no longer come when called. Send $5 for each luminary along with your name and the name of your pet. Please remember to designate “in honor of” or “in memory of” on your order. Our goal is to light up Shelby’s Historic Court Square in hopes that those who witness our show of love will remember that all life is precious; that none should be abused, neglected, or thrown away.
