Page 2 - Senior's Lifestyle Publication Supplement To Shelby Shopper & Info "The Last Day At W.O.R.K.” Annual Neal Center Membership Dinner Theatre It's A Good Life – OCTOBER 2010 Boy how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that the Neal Senior Center Players presented “At Halftime” and “bam” suddenly it’s time for their latest endeavor, “The Last Day at W.O.R.K.,” a comedy about a radio station (W.O.R.K.) in a small southern town which is signing off the air after 40 years. Written by Brandon Daughtry Slocum and J.P. Schuffman, this amusing work is directed by Rebecca M. Reger and is performed by the Neal Center Players with special permission by the “ArtAge Senior Theatre Resource Center at www.seniortheatre.com, 800-858-4998.” On October 28, 2010, the evening begins with a pre-dinner reception at 5:30 pm. Enjoy a glass or two of our “Dead-air” cocktails before you segue to the broadcast booth for some substantial pre-air fare. A meal of chopped pork barbecue with barbecue slaw, sauce, potato salad, tea or coffee, buns and homemade pie will be served at precisely 6:00 pm. Immediately following dinner there will be a brief five-minute intermission, and then it’s on with the last broadcast from W.O.R.K. at 6:35 pm. “The Last Day at W.O.R.K” is presented by the Neal Senior Center Players in honor of all contributing members of the Council on Aging/Senior Center. All current $50 annual members will get to attend this incredible evening of fine dining and one-act theatrical experience for free; $25 annual members will receive a reduced price and can attend for $6 per member. Remember at any price you get a great deal on dinner, along with a quality theatrical performance by your peers as well as party favors. Contributing memberships are available for a minimum contribution of $25 and may be purchased at the Neal Senior Center located at 100 TR Harris Drive, Shelby, NC 28150 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. The public (non-Senior Center contributing members) is invited to enjoy all the festivi- ties as well for the low cost of $15 for individuals or $25 for couples. Please call the Senior Center at 704-482-3488 to purchase your tickets for the Annual Membership Dinner Theatre but please note that your reservation is not confirmed until you pick-up your tickets at the Senior Center prior to noon (12:00 pm) on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Continuous cuts over the years from federal funding sources make contributions more important than ever before. Your contributions make the difference each year in our operating budget and our ability to serve our older-adult community. Planned gifts are a meaningful way to show your interest and concern for the grow- ing population of older adults in this community. A planned gift is one decided by you while you are alive to benefit the living after the death of the donor. The gift lives on, an enduring expression of love for our fel- lowman. Senior Center Donations Demonstrating your love and support may be done in several ways: •In the form of a Bequest: I give, devise, and bequeath to the Council on Aging/Senior Center, Inc. 100 T.R.
