Lunch & a Study of the Bible First Thurs. of Each Month at Central Methodist First Thursday -- Lunch with Susan will be celebrating its twenti- eth year. This is a Shelby institution that is barely noticed, but one that draws many women and men each month to Central Methodist Church for a community gathering for lunch and a study of the Bible. The teacher is Susan Carlisle Bell, an art instructor at Gardner-Webb University. She also has a masters degree in Christian education. Lunch is noontime to one o’clock. Mothers of young children, and those on lunch break will appreciate that Susan begins the teach- ing at 12:10 and finishes by 12:50 p.m. There is no “homework,” no membership, and lunch is optional at $4.00. **Reservations are required for the lunch and nursery care**. Central United Methodist Church “The Nudge Revolution” Central UMC on the courtsquare in uptown Shelby invites the community to “The Nudge Revolution” workshop presented by Dr. Leonard Sweet on Saturday, October 9, from 3-5 pm. Dr. Sweet is currently serving as Professor of Evangelism at Drew University and previously served as President and Professor of Church History at United Theological Seminary for eleven years.
