Mr. Billy Gene Hawkins, Sr., 79 of 1191 High Shoals Road, Mooresboro, NC passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010. Services were held at Goodes Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with mili- tary honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Mr. Hawkins served our country in the U.S. Army dur- ing the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Nowlin Hawkins; and his mother, Lola Mae Sailors Hawkins. He is survived by 3 sons, Billy Gene Hawkins, Jr. and David Wayne Hawkins, all of Mooresboro and Bobby Dean Hawkins and wife Leslie of Kings Mountain; 6 grandchil- dren; and 4 great-grandchil- dren. Mr. Caldwell served our country in the U.S. Navy where he was a Chief Petty Officer and Communications Officer. Mr. McCarver was a vet- eran of the US Army, hav- ing served during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Grier and Matilda Peters McCarver.
