Kayla Kessens said her sale had quite a few custom- ers looking at the children's clothes and decor she was clearing out. "The best part is going home to a clean house," she said. Whatever didn't sell, she planned to take to the Town- wide Cleanup Day, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14; she joked the timing of the cleanup day, fol- lowing the yard sale by one weekend was lucky, and may- be even purposefully put to- gether by town planners. As for the Boy Scouts, last year people encouraged them to sell breakfast, which they tried, but even with that extra meal, they made about half of what they made in previous years according to Scout lead- er Nathan Kelle. Kent and Patty Fetcher had done the town sale multiple years—this year they sold Pat- ty's mother's glassware. Customers were especially interested in mason jars and antique jars. "She had so much," Patty Fetcher said of her mother's collection. "You can only have so much glassware." They spent most of their prep time at home gathering and loading the items. "It sold pretty well too," Kent Fetcher said. Local Julie Morgan ran a stand with family and report- ed lighter traffic. "People are not buying clothes as much," she said. The most unusual item she sold was a Wii game system her mother owned. One disadvantage was not having a way to set up in ad- vance on Friday, due to the rain. It also put a damper on peo- ple participating who thought Saturday might include more of the wet weather. "I like seeing people the most," she said.
