The Pike County Community Foun- dation announced Warner as the winner on Tuesday. The scholarship pro- vides full tuition, required fees, and an annual stipend of up to $ 900 for required books and equipment for four years of full-time un- dergraduate study leading to a baccalaureate degree. Warner is the daughter of Renea Miller, of Peters- burg, and John Warner, of Lynnville. She is a senior at Pike Central High School and plans to attend an In- diana college of her choice to study human biology/ pre-medicine. She is also involved in many community activi- ties, including canned food drives, the soup kitchen program and adopt-a-fam- ily program, to name a few. The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is a statewide program administered by local community founda- tions throughout Indiana. The Community Founda- tion administers the pro- gram locally in conjunc- tion with the Community Foundation Alliance (our governing body) and lo- cal high schools, and In- dependent Colleges of In- diana (ICI) provides state- wide oversight of the pro- gram. The Lilly Endowment is an Indianapolis-based, pri- vate philanthropic foun- dation, created in 1937 by members of the Lilly Family. In keeping with the wishes of the found- ing members, the Lilly En- dowment exists to support the causes of education, re- ligion and community de- velopment. The scholarships are the result of a statewide Lil- ly Endowment initiative to help raise the level of edu- cational attainment in Indi- ana; increase awareness of the beneficial roles Indiana community foundations can play in their commu- nities; and encourage and support the efforts of cur- rent and past Lilly Endow- ment Community Scholars to engage with each other and with Indiana business, governmental, education- al, nonprofit and civic lead- ers to improve the quality of life in Indiana generally and in local communities throughout the state.
