The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, July 24, 2019 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued in next column Continued from page 2 Continued on page 4 same time. At the end of the day mamaw and papaw just melted into a chair and said what a day glad we made it. If you see the cutest ba- by pictures at the fair stop by and vote for Willow Lynn because she is beautiful to me. I think you will agree although anyone who has a baby in this contest will probably be as biased on their own baby. Heard a question one time about what's cuter than a baby? The answer was two ba - bies. So hope you vote your own mind. I am way behind with my sponsorship selling and if I haven't got to you by now don't give up on me be- cause our local Lions club needs funds to help do the things we do for our friends in the community. Our worker shirts will display your business name and many will see it. I thank all of you and hope you appreciate our efforts. When I worked with An- dy Osborne, he would al- ways say give that solid floor up there a puff job. What is a puff job? It is a clean- up that looks like you put in hours of work on it, but all you did was clean on the more visible areas so it looks great and diverts attention from the areas which needed a little more attention. My wife says I still try to get by with this approach and I must admit she has caught me a time or two. It is hard to believe that it has been a year since we attended another Banner night for the changing of District Governors of our Lions district. We attended new governor Sheryl Sha- fer's banner night at Bloom- field. There was about 70 of us from the district help her celebrate what will be one of her busiest of years. She was dressed in her "Rosie the Rivoter" costume with her slogan for the new year "We can do it." I hope she has a produc- tive year and with her ef- forts I hope and pray many who need help can find it under her leadership. Our message Sunday concerned two types of dry bones. They ones where hope has been lost and those dry bones of our past, which does its best to hold us back and tries to steal any hope God puts in front of us. One of my per- sonal dry bones would be the shame I feel whenev- er I have let God down and this will definitely steal your hope. Well enough for now, be a help for someone this week and accept help if you need it. I Corinthians 2:5 was writ- ten as assurance. God is re- liable, people aren't always. A doctorate or using big un- familiar words aren't nec- essary to tell others about what God has done in our lives or what He can do in someone else's life. We on- ly need God and a true re- lationship with Him. It's His power that brings about the willingness to change and want change, not my words. We can feel secure knowing that God is in charge of our salvation, not other people, and not our own efforts. Isn't it time that we start trusting in Him and stop re- lying on ourselves? Espe- cially since self is just an- other obstacle to overcome, another idol that needs re- moved. Denny Wiscaver, Pastor Kimberly Flynn, Reporter Everyone is welcome to each service. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed?
