Nolan then threw the money back on the floor. Dunn again said he asked Nolan what he was doing. Dunn stated Nolan then stood up and got in his face and shoved him. According to Dunn, Nolan used his fists to push him, which caused him (Dunn) to fall back in- to a wall. At this time, Dunn picked up a Ruger .45 cali- ber handgun, which was on a shelf in the room, and shot Nolan." According to affidavit, Dunn told police detectives he immediately put the fire- arm back on the shelf after he fired the shot. It states he could not remember ex- act details about the shoot- ing. "He described it as hap- pening fast." It states, "He remembers aiming and then shooting, then immediately trying to help Nolan." "Dunn states Nolan fell against a wall, so he moved him on the porch, where he attempted chest compressions." But he told police "He knew it was not going to work." According to the affidavit, Dunn told police during the interview his mother was up- set, so he told her he was go- ing to call 911 and she need- ed to leave. She drove back to her res- idence in Petersburg. Sheriff Wilder said he called Pike County Sheriff Kent Johnson, who assisted in locating Minnis. She was taken to the War- rick Sheriff's Department and interviewed. Accord- ing to the affidavit, Minnis told police she went to her son's residence at 10388 No- bles Chapel Road and did not know Nolan was going to be there. She added she didn't know he was living with her son. The affidavit states: "She brought over food and they were watching the T V and listening to music. At one point, she heard a gunshot and thought it accidentally went off." She said Dunn told her to leave and she drove home. "She stated at no time was she ever harmed by Nolan or her son. Minnis stated she did not remember see- ing money exchanged at any time." Detectives searched Dunn's residence and found several firearms, including a Ruger .45 handgun from a shelf in the living room. Sheriff Wilder said Dunn was renting the residence on Nobles Chapel Road, but had not changed his address on his license. He said it ap- peared Nolan was temporar- ily living with Dunn. A level 2 felony is punish- able by 10 to 30 years. Dunn is being held in the Warrick County Jail. As of Tuesday afternoon, no court date had been set for Dunn.
