He was born October 31, 1935, in Winslow, to Hu- lett and Virginia (Minnis) Crecelius. He had a deep love of VIOLET RUTH MEADORS Violet Ruth Meadors, 86, passed away July 23, 2019, in Jasper. Born August 29, 1932, to Charlie and Sula Mae (Fair) Johnson in Bowman. She married her husband, George "Tom" Meadors, on March 21, 1969. She owned Ruby's Res- taurant in Otwell and Vi's Concession Stand at Prides Creek. She was also a farm- er, homemaker and Pike County 4-H Leader. She is survived by her son, J.R. (Kim) Meadors, of Otwell; daughters, Ruth- ie (Steve) Barrett, of Otwell, Donna ( Jerry Hodges) Mill- er, of Martinsville, Jean Ann Garretson, of Evansville, Brandee (Chad) Mehringer, of Otwell, and Tenny (Red- ouane Wahid) Murray, of Hampton, Va.; stepchildren Vicki (Denny) Weisman, of Otwell, and Mitchell (Susie) Meadors, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Ethan Meadors, Trent Barrett, Greg Barrett, David Mill- er, John Miller, Jade Miller, Craig Weisman and Ashley Kutch; 16 great-grandchil- dren; and one great-great- granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Charles Hugh "Bud" John- son, Ralph Johnson, Earl Johnson, Beatrice Hall and Naomi Myers. A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. EDT on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Otwell Cemetery. MARILYN "SUE" BALLENGEE Marilyn "Sue" Ballengee, 77, of Otwell, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019, while at Amber Manor of Peters- burg. She was born September 29, 1941, in Otwell, to the late Raymond Wiscaver and Mae Wiscaver (Lutrell). She was a 1959 gradu- ate of Otwell High School and was a school bus driver for Pike County Communi- ty Schools for many years. She was a member of the Petersburg Chapter Wom- en of the Moose, VFW Aux- iliary and the American Le- gion. She was raised attend- ing Contender of Faith Mis- sion Church of Otwell. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Mark) Flint; two sons, Mike Davis and Rex (Glenda) Davis; six grandchildren, Josh Flint, Jamie Hardin, Tara Lyons, Zachary Davis, Alyssa Clark and Brittany Davis; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eu- gene Ballangee; and two brothers, Billy Joe Wiscav- er and James Lee Wiscaver. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut St., Washing- ton. Interment will be at a lat- er date in Sugarland Memo- ry Gardens. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1 p.m. CDT on Friday, July 26, 2019, at the First General Baptist Church, Harrison Street, Oakland City. More than 500 properties included in prop. tax sale More than 500 properties are included in this year's Re- al Property Tax Sale sched- uled for 10 a.m. on Wednes- day, September 4 in the Pike County Courthouse. The properties listed to be auctioned off on Septem- ber 4 are listed beginning on page B-5. These properties have delinquent tax liens against them of at least three install- ments. The minimum bid for any parcel is the amount of taxes owed plus fees and ex- penses. A detailed list of reg- ulations for participating in the auction are presented on page B-5. Auditor Judy Gumbel said more than 100 of the parcels are owned by Triad Coal Company, which recent- ly filed for bankruptcy, so those properties, while ad- vertised this week, will be removed from the sale.
