STOP BY FOR A Hunt and Mann to attend Envision's Junior National Young Leaders Conference Pike Central Middle School seventh graders Em- ma Hunt and Lillian Mann will join outstanding stu- dents from across the na- tion to take part in a unique academic and career orient- ed development experience, Junior National Young Lead- ers Conference in Washing- ton, D.C. Junior National Young Leaders is one of the En- vision family of programs (www.envisionexperience. com) that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom. Emma and Lillian were nominated by their sixth grade teachers. Both girls excel in their academics, as well as being involved in many extra curricular activi- ties, including band and ath- letics. They are both excited to be visiting many histori- cal locations in the Washing- ton, D.C., area and glad to be able to enjoy this experience with a friend. "As an alumna of Envision myself, I am excited for Em- ma and Lillian to meet, work and collaborate with other high-aspiring students from across the country," said Amanda Freitag Thomas, SVP for Envision. "Hands down, my favorite part of attending an Envision pro - gram was being with moti- vated students in an envi- ronment designed to help us challenge our assumptions, meet new people and grow. Creating that same learning environment is a central fo- cus for all of our programs. Students will build the con- fidence and skills needed to excel in high school, college and the workplace. They learn how to adapt to and communicate in new situa- tions, to new challenges, and with new people, which, giv- en how rapidly the world is changing due to technology and innovation, are essential skills for success." Since 1985, Envision pro- grams have served more than 800,000 students in more than 145 countries, with programs designed to help students develop the leadership, scholarship and career skills needed to suc- ceed in today's competitive college and career land- scape. Pike Central Middle School seventh graders Emma Hunt and Lillian Mann will join outstand- ing students from across the nation to take part in a unique academic and career oriented devel- opment experience, Junior National Young Lead- ers Conference in Washington, D.C. Gray arrested for OVWI By Andy Heuring An Oakland City man was arrested for drunken riding after police stopped him for going 77 mph in a 55 zone on Friday. Brian Gray, 42, 520 N Clay St., Oakland City, was arrested by Indiana State Trooper C. J. Boeckman near Hathaway Station just south of Winslow on High- way 61 at about 12:30 a.m. Trooper Boeckman said he was on stationary patrol when he saw Gray riding a Harley Davidson motorcy- cle north on Highway 61 at 77 mph in the 55 mph zone. He stopped Gray and while talking to him no- ticed signs of intoxication. Gray failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Pike County Jail. Gray test- ed 0.246 percent for blood alcohol content, which is more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent in Indiana. He was charged with op- erating a vehicle while in- toxicated.
