The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, Februar y 20, 2019 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued in next column Continued from page 2 Nazarene Lutheran Wesleyan Methodist Methodist sing. They are from Dayton, Ohio and their son is attend- ing Oakland City University studying the business side of music. Their music was in- spiring and it reminded all of us we need Jesus and that each time we lose a loved one it makes heaven a little sweeter. Sunday school was about singing praises to God for all His greatness and about do- ing it because it is coming from your heart not from obligation. A person's heart can be full of love but some- times the weight of everyday life has you confounded to the point of discouragement. When we are down let others who are happy cheer us be- cause God is sending them to us. If we have troubles ask God to help us through them and then let your love shine as it should. Chris- tians should never have to feel like they are all alone because the whole family of God should help one anoth- er through. Been so busy this week I haven't had the time to lis- ten to CNN or Fox news to catch up on the latest dirt on our government. I am glad for the fact there will be not be a shutdown for a time and the fact there are some of our representatives trying to work together. I would hope they would listen to God and His commandments before they act. He should be our number one leader. Oh well, enough for this week I pray we all have a good week and that each re- ceive a blessing as we bless others. Independent LIVING FAITH CHURCH INTERNATIONAL 718 E. We cannot see the fi- nal outcome of the work we do today if that work is wrought in faith. You may be laboring in some hum- ble village, some forgotten spot on the corner of the earth, among despised peo- ple; your name may never appear in print; your ser- vice of love for Christ may be unnoticed; and yet you may be the unconscious instrument of God for the accomplishment of things of which you cannot even dream. So, then, continue your life of abandonment to God. For faith and loyal- ty to Him in spite of all cir- cumstances in eternity will bring you glorious rewards. Chad Searls, Pastor ST. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. Do we feel blessed when times are hard? When we are "poor in spirit," we need more of God and His direction in our lives. When we "hunger," we need to be searching after the Lord like the deer pants after the water. When we "weep," we need to grieve over the things that breaks the Lord's heart. When we are "hated," we need to seek God's approval and not man's. We are blessed if we suffer for Christ. Our doors are always open to you. God and your money What money? That's a good ques- tion. The sad reality is that many American families spend more money than they make. That should be a shocking fact for Chris- tians. Why? Because Chris- tians are supposed to be good stewards of all that we have: our time, talent, intel- ligence, energy and posses- sions, including money. Let's consider money from the Christian stand- point: 1. It is not sinful to earn all the legitimate money one can garner. In itself, money is not evil. It is the love of money that we must resist. 2. It is important to save as much as one can - at least 10 percent. 3. It is vital to make a budget and stick to it. 4. God owns the world and gives us the responsibility to take care of it. It takes mon- ey to care for home and prop- erty. 5. We should strive to give at least 10 percent to God's work, which includes the church. 6. One reliable fact about stewardship: There is no way we can out-give our lov- ing God. Ever! I will begin by con- trolling my thoughts. A per- son is the product of his thoughts. I want to be hap- py and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful. I refuse to be victimized by my cir- cumstances. I will not let pet- ty inconveniences such as PETERSBURG WESLEYAN CHURCH 9th and McCoy, Petersburg Pastor 812-632-0773 Sunday morning worship 10 :30 a.m. You are invited to worship with us. Richard Comer, Pastor stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference. I will be grateful for the 24 hours that are before me. Time is a precious commod- ity. I refuse to allow what lit- tle time I have to be contam- inated by self-pity, anxiety or boredom. I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant. I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for lov- ing and giving. Today I will make a difference. I will not let past failures haunt me. Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures. I will admit them. I will cor- rect them. I will press on. Victoriously. No failure is fatal. It's okay to stumble, I will get up. It's okay to fail, I will rise again. Today I will make a difference. I will spend time with those I love. A person can own the world, but be poor for the lack of love. A person can own nothing and yet be wealthy in relationships. To- day I will spend time with the significant people in my world. Quality minutes with friends. Today I will make a difference. This poem was given to me by Ruth Bush. We invite all of you to come and worship with us.
