Hamm, 81, of Jasper, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at home. He was born in Pike County on August 26, 1937, to George and Ruby ( Wil- lis) Hamm. He married Joan Furman on Decem- ber 28, 1956, in Shawnee- town, Ill. He retired from Jasper Cabinet Company after 40 years of service, and then drove for Ruxer Ford in Jas- per for 14 years. He was a member of the Church of God in Peters- burg. He was an avid I.U. Bas- ketball, Chicago Cubs and Indiana Pacers fan. He en- joyed riding his Goldwing Trike with his dog, Pre- cious, bowling and playing cards. Surviving are his wife, Joan Hamm, of Jasper; one son, Robert (Geri) (Loechte) Hamm, of Jasper; two grandchildren, Court- ney (Bill Perry) Hamm, of Middlesex, N.C., and Der- ek (Kayla) Hamm, of Flint, Texas; five great-grandchil- dren, Nolan, Rozlyn, Rea- gan, Gracie and Landon; and one sister, Eunice "Tude" Cardinal, Olney, Ill. Preceding him in death were one sister, Loret- ta Hamm; and four broth- ers, Melvin "Bud" Hamm, Vernon "Pid" Hamm, Don- ald Hamm and Raymond Hamm. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb- ruary 21, 2019, at the Bech- er-Kluesner North Chap- el in Jasper, with Pastor Don Fausnaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Pleas- ant Ridge Cemetery in Pike County. A visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. GEORGIA ANN WINDHAM Georgia Ann Windham, 85, died Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Amber Manor Healthcare Center in Pe- tersburg. She was born September 29, 1933, to Olaf and Char- lotte (Oien) Sharstrom, in Willmar, Minn. She loved spending time with her family, planting flowers, and visiting with her friends and acquain- tances. She had a huge heart and left a mark on everyone she met. She will be deep- ly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Den- nis) Britton, of Anthem, Ariz., Connie (Philip) Duke, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one son, Donald G. (Don- na) Brittain, Sr., of Atlan- ta, Ga.; two brothers, Arnie ( Verna) Sharstrom and Her- bert Sharstrom, of Minneso- ta; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; niec- es and nephews; and many close friends. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Theo- dore Brittain, Jr.; her second husband, Jerry Windham; three brothers, Arthur, Vic- tor and Harold; and two sis- ters, Olga and Hazel. The family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care. ANNA M. COX Anna M. Cox, 94, of Oak- land City, entered rest on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was born on Oct. 23, 1924, in Evansville, to Wil- liam and Verda (Corn) Ab- ney. She is survived by her children, Marian Canary, of Hatfield, Ind., Connie (Tom) Mitchell, of Boonville, Billie Newlin, of Evansville, San- dra (Merv) Lauderdale, of Oakland City, Diana (Hen- ry) Pack, of Moss Point, Miss., Bobby ( Jennifer) Cox, of Oakland City, Dar- rell Cox, of Petersburg, and Donald (Tina) Cox, of Deck- er, Ind.; several grandchil- dren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchil- dren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Cox, in 1969; a daughter, Brenda Sue Cox; and a son, Randy Cox. Services were at noon on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with burial in St. John's Cemetery in Buck- skin. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until services on Fri- day at the chapel. Family and friends may send messages of comfort to www.lambbaham.com. DONNA M. JENNE Donna M. Jenne, 75, passed away Feb. 12, 2019, at Golden Living Center in Petersburg. She was born Aug. 5, 1943, in Daviess County, the daughter of Ulysses and Mildred (McCleland) Clark. She married Michael Jenne, Sr. in December 1961, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2004. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church and worked as a salvage lady for Perdue Farms. She was a member of the Washing- ton Saddle Club and loved to ride horses. She loved her family and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved singing "Jesus Loves Me." Survivors include her chil- dren, Darlene Dedrick, of Washington, Melody Pur- due, of Washington, Min- dy Lovellette, of Vincennes, Michael Jenne, Jr., of Beech Grove, and Martin Jenne, of Shelbyville; sister, Rita Aus- tin, of Washington; brother, Roger Clark, of Washing- ton; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchil- dren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael Jenne, Sr.; sister, Ju- dy Earls; and brothers, Bill Clark and Larry Clark. The funeral service was WILLIAM L. BEYER, SR. William L. Beyer, Sr., 89, of Indianapolis, formerly of Petersburg, passed away at Madison Healthcare on Feb- ruary 2, 2019. He was born on January 6, 1930, in Shelby County, Ind., to Leo F. and Justina O. Bey- er (Ruhlman). He married Dora Jean Grubb in 1991 in Waterloo, Ill., and they re- sided for many years in Pe- tersburg. He graduated from Wal- dron H.S. in 1948 and joined the U.S. Army. He served his country with distinction and retired from the U.S. Army as a Lt. Colonel. He worked stateside for the Se- lective Service System and later for the Indiana Bu- reau of Motor Vehicles. He loved to dance and garden. He was a self-proclaimed mole eradicator and kept his neighbors' yards free of those pesky critters. He en- joyed listening to old coun- try music and watching the Indiana Pacers. He is survived by his sis- ter, Rita Teal; and by three sons and four daughters, William L. Beyer, Jr., Nan- cy (Glenn) Koehring, Jill (Bill) Frye, Carol Beyer, Jeff (Erin) Beyer, Greg (Donna) Beyer and Amy ( Joe) Click; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Jean; and eight brothers and sisters. A private graveside ser- vice will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. MISTY GALE (GREGORY) HERNDON Misty Gale (Gregory) Herndon, 42, passed away on February 7, 2019. She was born on October 6, 1976, in Vincennes, the daughter of Terry and San- dra (Greer) Gregory. She married Andrew Herndon on March 9, 2013, and he survives. She attended Southwind Wesleyan Church in Wash- ington. She loved her fami- ly, her dog, Ringo, anything Nike and tie-dye. Survivors include her husband, Andrew Hern- don; mother, Sandra ( Jer- ry) Barker, of Washington; sister, Deanna (Mike) Greg- ory-Hyde, of Washington; brother, Chadd Gregory, of Washington; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Herndon, of Wil- low Branch, Ind.; stepsis- ter, Lisa (Gerry) Wernert, of Martinsville, Ind.; niec- es, Cheyanne Stone and Kai- ley Gregory; nephews, Bry- ant Heffernan, Jalen Stone, and Timothy and Tyler Wer- nert; and great-niece, Hailey Heffernan. She was preceded in death by her father, Terry Gregory; paternal grandpar- ents, James and Zola Grego- ry; maternal grandparents, Bill and Juanita Greer; and an aunt, Patricia Gale Greer, who Misty was named after. The family had a private viewing and a celebration of life service on Saturday, February 16, 2019, from 2- 4 p.m. at Southwind Wesley- an Church in Washington. Messmer, 83, of St. Anthony, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton. She was born March 6, 1935, in Stendal, to Emil and Hilda (Nuhring) Soll- man. She married William "Bill" Messmer on Septem- ber 17, 1955, in St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was retired from Kim- ball Electronics. She en- joyed flower gardening and crocheting. She was a mem- ber of St. Anthony Catho- lic Church, V.F.W. Auxilia- ry and St. Anthony Legion Auxiliary, where she was a past president. She is survived by three daughters, Marlene (Gor- don) Gentry, of St. Antho- ny, Idonna (David) Fox, of Somerville, and Sheila (Steve) Peck, of Pocahon- tas, Ill.; one son, Nicho- las "Nick" Messmer, of St. Anthony; one brother, Da- vid Sollman, of Velpen; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Messmer, of Huntingburg; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on June 12, 2010 ; a son, David Mess- mer; a brother, Paul Soll- man; and a grandson, Nicky V. Messmer. Zink, 80, of Huntingburg, passed away at 11:52 a.m., Monday, Feb- ruary 11, 2019, at his resi- dence. He was born January 28, 1939, in Ferdinand, to Ro- man and Evelyn ( Whipking) Zink; and married Shirley Worman on June 13, 1958, in Illinois. He worked as a truck driver and was a member of V.F.W. Post #2366. He served in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster Seaman aboard the USS To- ledo. He is survived by sev- en children, Terri (Max) Haake, of Chandler, James J. (Terri) Zink, of Hunting- burg, Sherry Sherron, of Huntingburg, Steve (Don- na) Zink, of Huntingburg, Dennis (Donna) Zink, of Newark, Del., Kathi (Todd) Reynolds, of Huntingburg, and Danny C. (Karla) Zink, of Huntingburg; two sisters, Barbara Tredway, of Hunt- ingburg, and Kathy Nelson, of Petersburg; by 18 grand- children and 32 great-grand- children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Zink, who passed away on May 26, 2001; his parents; three brothers, Charlie, Joseph and Terry Zink; and three sisters, Shirley Payne, Wan- da Payne and Rosie Owens. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. EST on Thurs- day, February 14, 2019, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg, with Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand officiat- ing. He was born June 27, 1942, in Oakland City, a son of Ralph and Edna ( Wininger) Newkirk. He graduated from Naz- arene Bible College in Kan- sas City, Mo., and was a minister throughout his life. He currently was As- sistant Pastor at Carthage Wesleyan Church, and had pastored Willow Grove Church of the Nazarene in Martinsville, the Wesley- an Church in Petersburg, Clarkson Church of the Nazarene in Clarkson, Ky., Shirley Friends Church, Kennard Friends Church, Knightstown Church of God, Ogden United Meth- odist Church and Wiley United Methodist Church in New Castle. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Newkirk, of Knightstown; daughters, Lori ( Jack) Clay and Wendy (Steve) Fox, both of Carthage; a broth- er, Kenny Newkirk, of Indi- anapolis; and several niec- es and nephews. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Newkirk. Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2019, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knight- stown Chapel, with Pas- tor Charles Stroud officiat- ing. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by three children, Scott Allen Eich- miller, of Utah, Alice Alt- meyer, of Stendal, and Rob- ert Altmeyer, Jr., of Kokomo; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Altmeyer, who passed away on March 16, 2015; two brothers, Charles Eichmiller and Don- ald Eichmiller; and three sis- ters, Dorothy Graham, Ha- zel Bingham and Pauline Henke. A memorial service was at 1 p.m. EST on Monday, Feb- ruary 18, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Hunt- ingburg. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
