Cooper placed first in the 200 -yard freestyle with a time of 2:07.55, beat- ing his previous PR time of 2:11.15, and first in th 100 -yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.40, beating his previous PR time of 1:08.02. Bohnert breaks one-day-old 50-yard freestyle record in tri-meet at Jasper By Ed Cahill Press-Dispatch Sports Editor sports@pressdispatch.net A fter breaking her own school re- cord in the 50 -yard freestyle during a high school girls' swim meet on Tues- day, Jan. 8, Pike Central High School senior Natalie Bohnert did it again during a tri-meet hosted by Jasper on Wednesday, Jan. 9 – the Lady Char- gers' third meet in four days. Bohnert placed first in the 50 -yard freestyle with a time of 25.41 seconds, beating her one-day-old school record time of 25.61 seconds by two-tenths of a second. Jasper's Carmina Armstrong finished second in the event with a time of 25.68 seconds. Bohnert also placed first in the 100 -yard backstroke with a time of 59.64 seconds. Jasper's Leah Haas fin- ished second in the event with a time of 1:12.81. Bohnert also teamed up with soph- omores Charlotte Dudenhoeffer and Jenna Meyer and sophomore Em- ma McKinney to place third in the 200 -yard medley relay with a sea- son-best time of 2:13.04, beating their previous season-best time of 2:13.84. Bohnert also teamed up with Duden- hoeffer, Meyer and freshman Madison Riley to place third in the 400 -yard freestyle relay with a season-best time of 4:25.45, beating their previous sea- son-best time of 4:28.00. Placing sixth in individual events for the Lady Chargers were freshman Morgan Sallee in the 200 -yard indi- vidual medley with a season-best time of 3:48.96, beating her previous sea- son-best time of 3:56.17; and freshman Alyse Wire in the 100 -yard freestyle with a season-best time of 1:25.96, beating her previous season-best time of 1:38.17, and in the 100 -yard breast- stroke with a time of 1:53.92. In addition, the team of Fenwick, McKinney, Riley and Sallee placed fourth in the 200 -yard freestyle re- lay with a time of 2:19.44; and the team of Fenwick, Hunt, Sallee and Wire placed fifth in the 400 -yard free- style relay with a season-best time of 5:51.21, beating their previous sea- son-best time of 5:53.05, and sixth in the 200 -yard medley relay with a time of 3:05.83. As a team, Pike Central tied with Heritage Hills for second place with 77 points. Jasper finished first with 162 points. BOYS: Junior Brayden Cooper and sophomore Garrett Boyd posted third- place finishes in one individual event each as the Chargers placed third as a team. Cooper placed third in the 50 -yard freestyle with a season-best time of 25.68 seconds, beating his previ- ous season-best time of 25.71 sec- onds. Cooper also placed fourth in the 100 -yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.21. Boyd, who placed third in diving with a six-dive score of 107.80 points, also placed fifth in the 100 -yard free- style with a personal record time of 1:07.08, beating his previous PR time of 1:07.63. Also placing fifth in individual events for the Chargers were sophomore No- ah Russell in the 100 -yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:48.38, beating his previous season-best time of 1:48.84; and junior Sam Theising in the 200 -yard freestyle with a time of 2:23.64, and in the 500 -yard freestyle with a time of 6:18.92. Placing sixth in individual events for the Chargers was junior A.J. Hill in the 200 -yard freestyle with a time of 2:30.13, and in the 500 -yard freestyle with a time of 6:48.24. In addition, the team of Boyd, Coo- per, Hill and Theising placed fourth in the 400 -yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:25.37, and fourth in the 200 -yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:59.00. As a team, Pike Central scored a to- tal of 31 points. Heritage Hills placed first with 137 points, while Jasper fin- ished a close second with 136 points.
