Registration starts at 8:45 a.m. EST. Do you manage or work within road or utility right- of-ways? Attend this free half day training to learn how invasive plants im- pact these areas and the best ways to manage them. Hosted by the nonprofit Southern Indiana Coopera- tive Invasives Management (SICIM), and the new Pike- Gibson CISMA (Coopera- tive Invasive Species Man- agement Area), this train- ing will include identifica- tion of common roadside invasives, best manage- ment practices to prevent and control their spread, and noxious weeds and oth- er right-of-way vegetation management restrictions. Speakers will include Hans Schmitz (Purdue Extension), Emily Finch (SICIM Regional Special- ist), and Matt Kraushar (INDOT Roadside Mainte- nance Specialist). Some of the problemat- ic invasive plants that will be covered by this training are Johnson Grass, Poison Hemlock, Callery (Brad- ford) Pear, and Phragmites. The training is free, but pre-registration is recom- mended, by contacting Tabitha Anthis at 812-385 - 5033 x3 or tabitha.anthis@ in.nacdnet.net. Pesticide applicator CCH credits are being sought for this train- ing. Race to the bottom Kaitlyn Neal leads a pack of sledders as they race to the bottom of the hill at Hornady Park on Saturday morn- ing. Several children and their parents took advantage of winter's first snow to have a good time at the park. Even Gus, a choc- olate lab belonging to Jeff and Christy Burns of Peters- burg, joined the fun.
