Onesimus was a run-a-way slave who was led to Christ by Paul and had become in- dispensable to Paul while in prison. Gratitude had be- come a key factor in this sit- uation and it is for us as well as we try to deal with every day challenges in our lives. 1. As we think we can thank. 2. That's one of the few times people hope food is left on the table. When it comes to giving out blessings, God doesn't want any leftovers to remain. In Genesis 12:2, God bless- es Abraham so he will be a blessing to others. Charles Stanley writes: "A hoarded blessing is never en- joyed as richly as a shared one. Using your gift to meet someone else's need glori- fies God by demonstrating his grace at work in your life. Don't let his generous provisions end with you. Pass them on and discover the joy of a never-ending cy- cle of blessings." Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Boyd Heldring, Pastor Amy Melhiser, Secretary HUNTINGBURG HOLINESS CHURCH 813 N. He had a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat. A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words. Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write? " The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a differ- ent way." I wrote: "Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it." Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be sur- prised that the second sign was more effective? Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and pos- itively. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 rea- sons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future with- out fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear. The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling. And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it (Author un- known). "Give thanks in all circum- stances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (I Thessalonians 5:18, NIV ). We invite all of you to come and worship with us.
