C-2 Church Wednesday, November 16, 2016 The Press-Dispatch "Happiness is a hound dog in the sun. We aren't on earth to be happy, but to ex- perience incredible things"—Hannah Schneider. This week, PAWS is featuring an animat- ed young gal named Dusty, who is full of personality and loves everyone she meets. She is a petite, poised canine, has a bit of hound dog heritage, soft, floppy ears and a rich gold color with cream accents. Dusty is very play- ful and gets along well with other canines, is approximately a year old, housebroken and would make a terrific family dog. To adopt Dusty, call 812-354- 9894. "Behold I am coming quickly" (Revelation 22:7). What would you say about a person who had made a hundred promis- es to you and already kept ninety-nine of them? You probably would think he was honest enough to ful- fill the last promise as well, wouldn't you? Jesus Christ has fulfilled every promise ever made except one. He has not returned. Will He? In both the New and Old Testaments, there are ref- erences to the return of the Lord. Isaiah for example, looked forward to the day when the Messiah's return would be a reality. "Behold I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind" (Isaiah 65:17). December 4, after morn- ing worship, there will be a carry- in meal, which will be our Thanksgiving/ Christmas dinner. Each and everyone is invited. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services and I am sure you will leave feeling blessed by the pres- ence of the Lord. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Report- er NEW LIBERTY G.B. CHURCH (Coe) 1820 S. Co Rd. 800 S. Oakland City Gary Pancake, Pastor 812-664-4716 Sunday school 9:30 a.m., Faron McLaughlin, Super- intendent, Ryan Edrington, Assistant and Sunday morn- ing worship at 10 :30 a.m. We had a very nice ser- vice on Sunday as we talk- ed about our attitude about Christ. Is your glass half full or half empty? If you be- lieve in Christ, you should al- ways see it as full and run- ning over. If you want to be uplifted, try going to one of our Pike County schools for their Vet- erans Day services. What an inspiration. We are grateful to everyone involved and to the veterans who attended. We will have our Thanks- giving dinner at Jordan Park in Spurgeon on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. We will take up an offering and have a short worship service. There will be no services at the church as we will have a worship service followed by a won- derful dinner. We are grate- ful to Chris and Marlene for volunteering to fix turkeys and Kim for making oyster dressing. Edna and Mar- lene will be setting up for the meal and the Pancakes and the Smiths will be on the clean-up committee. Drink, plates, cups and table ser- vice will be furnished. November 23-25 will be Pike County's Thanksgiving Break. Thanksgiving will be on Thursday, Nov. 24. November 27 will be as- sistant teacher and build- ing fund Sunday. PLEASANT RIDGE G.B. CHURCH 1738 E. Co. Rd. 75 N. Petersburg Pastor 812-789-2348 Sunday morning service 10 :30 a.m. Everyone is al- ways welcome. God wanted us to know that we are not alone. We want to thank God for His mercy, love and an- swered prayer. Continue to pray for one another, the un- saved, the prayer list, for all who are traveling, for the sick and needy, for the ones in hospitals and nursing homes, for the military and their families, our President and his family, and all deci- sions that are made. If you need spiritual help or infor- mation, call the Pastor. Remember to pray for healing for our divided coun- try, for protection for our ba- bies, our families, our jobs, and our religious freedoms. We are so concerned for our nation. If we would apply this scripture to our lives, God will have mercy on us and heal our land – I Chron- icles 7:13-15. There is no other more powerful than God. We want to extend our sympathy to anyone who has lost a loved one. Have a great week. Dale Frederick, Pastor Lois K. Fowler, Reporter VELPEN G.B. CHURCH Hwy. 257, Velpen Pastor 812-354-9597 Greetings from Velpen to you and yours. Last Sunday, we had four people join our rolls as members. Member- ship in a church is impor- tant but it takes faith in Je- sus to make it to heaven. We now have a piano player and it makes our hymn singing easier and quite enjoyable. Our song leader who has been our leader for years is happy to have the help. We have decided to dis- miss our services on Nov. 27 and attend Pleasant Ridge G.B. Church to wor- ship with them. They have only morning worship and it starts at 10 :30 a.m. If you don't have a home church, you are more than welcome to worship with us at either church. Hope to see you in church. Lowell Thomas, Pastor We will have our "Hang- ing of the Green" service on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. Plan now to attend this moving service as we decorate our church for the Christmas season. Many are hurting for nu- merous reasons. Pray for each need and for our coun- try. Our Mission Statement: Loving the 99, always look- ing for the one. Read James 5:13-16 "Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The power of the righteous is powerful and effective" ( James 5:16). When we reach out to one another in unity of spirit, we share the healing love of God and its power to bring us peace. God answers prayer everyday. We invite you to come and worship with us. Everyone welcome. Dr. Robert Asa, Minister services. If and Why? "If one can be saved with- out faith, why did Paul say it was impossible to please God without it" (Hebrews 11:6)? "If God promised to give faith when we ask for it, why are we told that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10 :17). "If faith alone' is a whole- some doctrine and very full of comfort, why did James say that faith 'without works is dead"'( James 2:26)? Because He lives.
