C-2 Church Wednesday, May 24, 2017 The Press-Dispatch Continued from page 1 Baptist Baptist Continued in next column Continued in next column I realized, it was not I who was looking at the dogs, but the dogs who looked at me, and each dog with the same look in the eyes...the same hope, the same hope- lessness. "Can I come with you? Can I be your dog? "—Eric Parker. This week, PAWS is featuring an energet- ic young gal named Wicky, who has lived at PAWS for over a year. She is quite shy by na- ture and it is likely this is why she is always passed up when poten- tial adopters coming looking. We believe she would be a perfect dog for a patient, loving soul who would take time to let her know she is loved and needed. Whether or not we feel justified in our anger, re- maining angry with God is unfruitful and can only hurt us further. We must never lose sight of God's charac- ter and nature. He is abso- lutely pure, completely ho- ly and always faithful. His thoughts toward you are good, not evil. Whatever circumstance you are in, He is using them to mature you and you will have peace in those circum- stance only when you give them to God and acknowl- edge He knows best. The first key for useful- ness in God's Kingdom is humility. Pride cuts us off from God (and from other people) and deceives us in- to thinking we can do God's work without God's power. When we rely on the Holy Spirit, however, He sancti- fies us and empowers us so we can be effective tools in God's hands. But there is a second key, and that is faith—faith that God is sovereign, and that He is at work, even if we can't see it. Habakkuk complained to God that evil people were winning the day. But God replied, "I will work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you" (Habakkuk 1:5). God is at work, even in the midst of the problems, pes- simism and frustrations of our day. He alone is sover- eign and that is why we can trust Him, even when the way seems dark. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I'm sure you will leave feeling blessed. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter NEW LIBERTY G.B.
