"The Fabric Of Our So- ciety Is Coming Apart At The Seams Right In Front Of Our Eyes" screamed a recent head- line. Millions of Americans will agree. Where to start in analyzing what went wrong befuddles the experts. It was the so- called experts who created this mess. These are the experts who decided they know what is best for everyone. You can find these experts in newspapers and on T V. When a shooting is reported, these experts demand more gun control. They demand the government take away all the guns. That will solve the problem, they pompously exclaim. That's like cutting lung cancer out and buying the patient more cigarettes. You're only treat- ing the symptom and assisting a slow, pain- ful death. I regularly cite two momentous times in US history that set the course for the decline in law and order and civility we are experiencing today. First, we must look at ancient history to set the stage for today. Most people have heard the story of Noah. Noah lived in lawless times. People became so lawless that God intervened to save hu- manity. Jesus uses Noah's day as a sign of his impending return. A fter the flood, God com- manded Noah and his descendants to observe seven laws which became known as the Noa- hide Laws. They prohibited blasphemy, idolatry, adul- tery, bloodshed, theft, and eating the blood of a living animal. These are not Jewish laws. They are universal laws to all humans. The next fork in the road was Mt. Sinai and Moses. God gave Moses 10 Commandments written by the finger of God on two tablets of stone. When Moses gave them to the people, he did not declare them to be 10 good ideas or suggestions. History shows societies and cul- tures all over the world incorporated parts of the Noahide Laws and the 10 Commandments into their own moral laws. Every society has laws that prohibit killing, stealing, lying, and sexual immorality. In 1947, the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling, Everson v. Board of Education, became the law of the land. It focused on the "establishment clause" of the first amendment specifically as it pertains to the separation of church and state. These rulings and subsequent rulings have been used to promote "freedom from religion." The next nail in the coffin was hammered in by self-celebrated atheist Madalyn O'Hare. Her lawsuit, combined with others, sought to end prayer in public schools. In 1963, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled school mandated and ini- tiated prayer violated the establishment clause of the first amendment and unconstitutional- ly breached the barrier between church and state. Murray spent the rest of her life mak- ing a fortune off spreading her hatred of reli- Well, it is that time to put ramblings to ink so I can share them with you. For the life of me I can't see what everyone sees because my rambling thoughts are just whatever comes to mind as I am writing them. I'm happy people enjoy them so I'll keep trying to write them as long as the Press will print them. It might be time to look at your medicine cabinets to toss opened containers and things which have expired by their use by dates. With the chilly weather we have been having we have tried to catch up on some indoor chores like our medicine cabinets. By the time we fin- ished tossing things we were surprised at how much room we now had. You might want to do this chore yourself because I'm sure you would be surprised at what is hiding in there. A trip to the drug store to update our new insurance information and to pick up Wyatt's medicine soon became expensive because his medicine was really high because our son's family had not met their deductible yet. I'm sure this medicine should help them meet it. I led the funeral proceedings for Roma Blair this past Tuesday and I was blessed with a good set of scriptures to eulogize her. She was buried at Pleasant Ridge elementary. I pray the family is doing okay without their mother being with them in body but I do believe the one thing that never leaves us is our love for our departed loved ones. Their memory will keep us next to them for the rest of our lives. I think we have finally got our Christmas decorations down from inside the house. Thia was one of the first of several years we didn't decorate outside. It didn't seem as though there was as many decorations as usual. It could be that i just wasn't paying much atten- tion but I still believe there were fewer than normal. What did you think of the thunder storm the other night? It rocked and rolled for the bet- ter part of the night and then got cooler for a snow the next day. It snowed so hard that if the ground temperature had been right we would have had a decent amount of accumulation of the white stuff. By now all of you should know I do not ap- prove of abortion and that I vote for whoever I feel will do their best for their constituents but now I hear on the news there are senators who are blocked from certain committees. With the direction my mind takes me I can't help but feel like we are not serving some people's needs because their representative is barred from these committees. I can't get past trying to be fair and working with others if your way wasn't on the winning side. We had a certification for CPR this past Sat- urday at Cup Creek General Baptist. It was an interesting fulfilling day and was very ap- preciated. Sunday school was about the prayers Jesus offered for us from the cross where He gave His life for us. He asked the Father to forgive them for they know what they are doing. At that moment you ans i were given a chance to be saved fro our sins. Well I always ask you to be a blessing and to reap blessings as they come your way. net edition yeah, it's that fast! Z M www.PressDispatch.net/Subscribe It's The Press-Dispatch.
