May all our stars have a great day and may all your wishes come true. Keep in your heart and in your prayers all our stars who need that card, visit, phone call or that daily thought of them to have a wonderful day. Linda, Steve, Bill, Katy, Annabel, Lanora, Benny, Virginia, and more stars we all may know; those with al- lergies and the colds and viruses of the season; then the aches and pains of ev- eryday life. We have lost more of our stars from the Winslow area this past week. Mon- day, January 7, our family received word that Mike Meyer passed at the age of 64; then on Tuesday, January 8, we received word that Jr. McDonald passed at the age of 84 years. Mike and Junior were known and loved by the many stars in the Winslow areas and will be missed greatly. To every- one and their families who know these fine men, hold on to all the great times and share your memories and more memories will be shared with you. Postcards this week at Sweets Col- umn Winslow, IN 47598 were none in the ol' mailbox. Winslow Patoka River is high, but when the snow melts and more rain comes this past weekend it may rise again. The weathermen were calling for 4-6 inches, but in our area of town we got 2-21/2 inches as of Friday night into Saturday morning. There will be more to come in the areas again until Sunday some time. All last week the temps dropped into the 30s during the days and the 20s at night, so I believe that winter has finally come. We were in Oakland City where we saw many decorations of the season and some in Winslow, and I loved to see them still lit and how beautiful they all look. We got a visit from Susie Dou- blemont, and she is doing well and had stopped at Lamb-Basham to view someone she knew who used to farm for her dad, Glen Coleman. It is real nice to see and talk to friends you ha- ven't seen in a while. Norm and I decided that since we were to get some snow we would, or I should say Norm, mulled or split the truck load of wood and bring it inside the cabin. So now we know that a truckload of wood equals to two large stacks of fire- wood in the cabin. We al- so got more exercise, so we chopped and carried each chunk, lots of bend- ing, and packing in and stacking. Re- ally great exercise. January 17, Thursday, at the Winslow Nazarene Church Fellowship Hall will be the Blood Drive to help those stars who may have to use this service. So if you could help out to save a life then come from the hours of 2-6 p.m. More information is on the Winslow Involve- ment page on the website. Oh yeah, congratulations to Stacy Worthington and Chuck McCandless, who tied the knot in marriage on De- cember 29, 2018. We wish them a life- time of happiness and may your love stay stronger each day. As the lights begin to dim on this week, I hope you all keep an eye on family and friends; stay as warm as you can since the coldness has come; slow down and enjoy what your area has for your travels; tell someone this week how much they are needed in your life and that they are good people; then as I always say: smile, wave, and say Hi to everyone you see this week.
