C-2 Church Wednesday, Januar y 16, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued from page 1 "Dogs, for a reason that can only be described as di- vine, have the ability to for- give, let go of the past, and live each day joyously. It's something the rest of us strive for"—Jennifer Skiff. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a large, handsome fellow named Thor. Much as his name depicts, Thor is a strong, confident dog with a coat of short, shiny black fur, white chest, white tipped paws, dark brown soulful eyes that emit affection and loyalty. He is housebroken, would love to cuddle with a hu- man companion and ap- pears to have Terrier and Dane heritage. He is await- ing his vet check, but ap- pears very healthy. To inquire about Thor, call 812-354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the THOR Baptist Catholic Christian Church of God Independent Independent ARTHUR G.B. CHURCH 5670 S. "Where to look—I look not back—God knows the fruitless efforts, The wast- ed hours, the sinning and re- grets; I leave them all with Him who blots the record, And graciously forgives, and then forgets. I look not for- ward—God sees all the fu- ture, The road that, short or long, will lead me home; And He will face with me its ev- ery trial, And bear for me the burden that may come. I look not around me—Then would fears assail me, So wild that tumult of life's restless sea; So dark the world, so filled with war and evil, So vain the hope of comfort and of ease. I look not inward—That would make me wretched, For I have naught on which to stay my trust. Nothing I see but failures and short- comings, And weak endeav- ors crumbling into dust. But I look up—Up into the face of Jesus. For there my heart can rest, my fears be stilled; And there is joy, and love, and light for darkness, And per- fect peace, and every hope fulfilled" —Writer unknown. God places a seal on us when we receive Christ. And that seal is a person— the Holy Spirit. By the Spir- it's presence, God gives us security and establishes his ownership over us. The Spir- it is also God's pledge. He not only seals the arrange- ment, but He represents God's commitment to see us through. And fellowship with the Spirit is a sample of what we can expect when we come into our inheritance in Heaven. Finally, the Spirit wit- nesses to us, by the Scrip- tures and within our hearts, that Christ died for us and by faith in Him we have be- come God's children. What a wonderful thing to know the Holy Spirit has been given to us as a seal—a pledge—and a witness. May each of these give us assurance of God's unchanging love for us, and give us confidence as we seek to live for Him. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I am sure you will leave feeling blessed. May God bless each and everyone. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter NEW LIBERTY G.B. CHURCH (Coe) 1820 S. Co Rd. 800 S. God's holy name is to be revered. Jesus himself taught us to pray, "Hallowed be thy name" (Matthew 6:9). Using God's name ir- reverently or insincerely is prohibited. All false swear- ing (perjury), unnecessary oaths, or needless mentions of God's name is forbidden. God's name is great. It is great because it reveals His nature, it is above every oth- er name, it will last forever, it is the only name whereby man can be saved, and it is a "strong tower" of defense for the righteous. In light of the greatness of God's won- derful name, we should love it, fear it, declare it, hallow it, exercise faith in it, gather together in His name, and do all in His name. God forbid that we should ever, in any way, speak His Name with less than full reverence and genuine humility.
