He was born in Vigo Coun- ty on January 10, 1948. He married his wife, Jill Feltner, on October 20, 1998. He was a die-hard Cubs fan and rooted for anyone who beat the Cardinals. He was an avid euchre player and mushroom hunter. He loved IU basketball, his dog, Katie, and his family. He is survived by his wife, Jill Feltner; daughters, Shari (Tim) Vickers, Tonya ( John) Cooper, Leslie (Mitch) Ant- ley, Stephanie Austin and Vanessa (Steven) Land- strom; son, Jeffrey Austin; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and four sisters. Services were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Harris Funeral Home in Pe- tersburg. Burial followed at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Harris Funer- al Home was entrusted with his care. NED E. BARR Ned E. Barr, 81, of Barg- ersville, passed away Mon- day morning, September 24, 2018, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born September 28, 1936, in Oakland City, to his parents, the late Russell J. and Frances Louise (Cur- tis) Barr. He was a 1954 graduate of Winslow High School and went on to serve as a 2nd Class Petty Officer with the Ninth Naval Dis- trict of the United States. While in the Navy, he was trained as a Sea Bee Heavy Equipment Operator spe- cializing in crane and earth mover construction equip- ment. He served in Moroc- co, North A frica and on the Grand Turk Island of the Vir- gin Islands. He also served four months in the Antarc- tic as a member of a Summer Support Unit. A fter his release from mil- itary duty, he earned a Bach- elor's Degree in Civil Engi- neering from Purdue Uni- versity in 1964. While at Purdue, he married Ellen Duane "Dee" (Cacia) Barr on July 1, 1961, in New- burgh. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2004, af- ter 42 devoted years of mar- riage. A fter college graduation, Ned began working with the Indiana Department of Transportation, where he worked for 36 years and six months for the Highway Department as an Assistant Project Engineer. Projects included Interstate 70 and contracts in Marion Coun- ty. He spent his last 26 years in various managerial posi- tions in the Highway Cen- tral Offices. Ned received various honors from Indiana Governors, including Distin- guished Employee upon his retirement. Ned and Dee had two boys, Vince and Chris. God blessed Ned and Dee, as they were able to watch their MARVIN R. BARTON Marvin R. Barton, 82, of Oatsville, passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at Deaconess Midtown Hospi- tal in Evansville. He was born on leap day, Feb. 29, 1936, in Nebo, Ky., to the late Howard and Mary (Gunter) Barton. He graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1955 and later served as vice-president and president of the Mt. Olympus Alumni Association. He served in the United States Army from 1959 -1961 as a Military Policeman. He was a member of Mt. Tabor General Baptist Church, where he served for many years as trustee and Sun- day School Superintendent. He was employed by Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville for 12 years and retired from Amax Coal Company, Wabash Mine in Keensburg, Ill., where he worked for 22½ years and was a member of United Mine Workers Local 1791. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds, watching Westerns, listening to Coun- try and Gospel music, trav- eling, mowing, and going to flea markets and the Indiana State Fair. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue Ellen (At- kinson) Barton; son, Derek K. Barton, of Oatsville, and his girlfriend, Gloria J. Re- inhart, and her son, James, of Fort Branch; stepmoth- er, Bonnie Barton, of Princ- eton; brothers, Bobby (Pat) Barton, of Bargersville, and Jason, of Brownsburg; sis- ters, Nancy Spates, of Huey- town, Ala., and Amy (Greg) Wright, of Fort Branch; step- sister, Shirley (Bruce) Fos- ter, of Haubstadt; sister- in-law, Rita Barton, of Fort Branch; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Gloria Huey, of Sandborn; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog, Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ed- win Barton; and father and mother in-law, Lestle and Ruth (Swain) Atkinson. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Wes- ley Haas officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and again from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funer- al home. All times are CDT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Ned also enjoyed being president of the Franklin Boys Club for several years, where he al- so coached boys' and girls' basketball teams. He was a member of Gide- on's International since 1993, where he served var- ious offices, focusing on church presentations by Gideon Speakers. He en- joyed his Gideon work and made many lifelong friend- ships with more than 50 church pastors in Johnson County. Other memberships include: 50 -year member of the Banta United Methodist Church and a 40 -year mem- ber of the Masonic Union Village Lodge 545 in Prov- idence. He was also a mem- ber of the Morgantown Se- nior Center. He married Georgi- na Rowland on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2012, at the Chapel area in Cana of Galilee, Israel, where Jesus turned the water to wine. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2016. In his spare time, he en- joyed traveling and volun- teering his time, transport- ing patients to the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis for 17 years. He was also known to many as the "Mole Man" and would help people re- move moles from their yard with his special formula. He is survived by his lov- ing sons, Chris (Dawn) Barr, of Bargersville, and Vincent (Annette) Barr, of Franklin; grandchildren, Andrew (Danielle) Barr, Shelby ( Jake) Moran, Al- yssa Barr, all of Franklin, Ross Barr, of Bargersville, and A.J. Barr, of Franklin; great-grandchildren, Hadle- igh and Rayeli; sister, Jean- nine (Alan Steve) Potter, of Oakland City; and Ned's dog, Tommy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Duane "Dee" (Cacia) Barr; second wife, Georgina (Rowland) Barr; and siblings, Stanley Barr and Lemoine Barr. A Celebration of Life ser- vice will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018, at the Banta United Methodist Church, 6594 Banta Road in Bargers- ville, with the Rev. Bill Van- Horn officiating. He was born August 1, 1952, in Huntingburg, to Orville and Doris (Huff ) Houchin. He married Debbie An- dry on June 29, 1991. He was a former truck driver at Styline, and enjoyed an- imals, being outdoors and working on cars. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Houchin, of Stendal; three children, Dawn ( Joe) Smith, of Dayton, Ohio, Ra- chel (Ryan) Hagemeyer, of Stendal, and Hannah Fleck, of Greenfield; two stepchil- dren, Stephen (Lori) Toby, of Stendal and Gwen (Scott) Boylan, of Indianapolis; his mother-in-law, Norma An- dry, of Birdseye; two sisters, Sharon (Bill) Leazenby and Kay Marshall, both of Hunt- ingburg; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in- law, Lugene Andry; brother- in-law, David Andry; and a granddaughter, Josie Hage- meyer. He was born on Jan. 14, 1952, in Oakland City, to George and Elpha (Drew) Briggs. He graduated from Wood Memorial High School and had worked at Master Brand in Huntingburg for 14 years. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Flora (Blair) Briggs; sons, William J. Briggs, of Evansville, and Joshua D. Briggs, of Haub- stadt; step-sons, Richard W. Sanders, of Holland, Ad- am M. Sanders, of Bowling Green, and Andy R. They are survived by Dawsyn's father, Alex Posel- wait, of Winslow; Natisha's sons, Grayson Nell and Tey- lee Nell; her parents; her grandfather, Richie Wool- sey, of Winslow; her broth- er, Gage Sloan; and her sis- ter, Sierra Branum. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time at the fu- neral home. RITA K. MCGUYER Rita K. McGuyer, 75, of Hazleton, passed away Mon- day, September 24, 2018, at home. She was born Novem- ber 24, 1942, in Iona, Ind. to Samuel Arthur and Mil- dred Charlotte (Dedrick) Daffron. She resided in rural Hazle- ton for 49 years, after mov- ing from Princeton. She had worked at Potter & Brum- field and later Siemens. She was an avid bowler, bowling in leagues for 43 years. She enjoyed traveling, mush- room hunting, camping at the White River, shopping and going on day trips with her husband, which many times turned out to be over- night stays somewhere. She is survived by her chil- dren, Lynn McGuyer, Terry (Donna) McGuyer, of Mis- sissippi, Thurman "Bucky" (Mandy) McGuyer, of Ha- zleton, and Latisha (Mike) Johnson, of Vincennes; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; eight great- great grandchildren; sis- ter, Charlotte Faye Junkin, of Fritchton, Ind.; and her brother, Arthur Dwight Daf- fron, of Nebo, Ky. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thurman W. McGuyer, in 2010 ; and sons, Leon and Steve McGuyer.
