Spring Summer Princeton INTO Above: Chris Sat- terfield and Bill Gow- en were kept busy with full grills cooking pork chops under a canopy along the sidewalk in front of the Winslow Free Mason clubhouse this past Saturday. Satterfield said they were near their 300th pork chop dinner, with early evening diners still on their way into the clubhouse. Hunt was helping Tom Kirby with dessert se- lections in the dining area on Saturday. Kir- by was getting his din- ners and desserts to go, while there was a steady stream of ar- ea residents eating in and carrying out. James Capozella photo WINSLOW FREE MASON BENEFIT Detour planned for Hwy. 364 in 2017 By Andy Heuring The Pike County Com- missioners approved a de- tour route for Highway 364 (State Forest Road) during their four-minute meeting Monday morning. A detour is needed be- cause of a culvert replace- ment the Indiana Depart- ment of Transportation has contracted for 1.42 miles east of Highway 61. Pike County Highway Department Superinten- dent Roger Ham said they will be installing a box cul- vert. He said INDOT is re- quiring the county to reach an agreement on an official detour. Residents of that area will have plenty of time to make plans for the road closure. It isn't supposed to take place until March 1, 2017. The road closure is scheduled to last five to seven days. "They only way to get them out of that area is to take them on CR 450 E. to the back side of Augusta and then to Old State Road 364," said Ham. His recommendation was approved by a 3-0 vote. The other action taken was to approve two small transfers in the Solid Waste District budget. They re- quested a transfer for $40 from contract weed spray- ing to insurance, and $ 37 from contract weed spray- ing to building repair and maintenance. Commissioner Assistant Kristi Dischinger said the floor of the attendant station at the Petersburg waste col- lection site has rotted out. She said the bill to replace the floor was $ 837, but they only had $ 800 in the mainte- nance account. Both were approved by the commissioners and will have to get final approval from the County Council. The next commissioners' meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 16.
