4 0 U ND ER 4 0 2 01 3 9A Jen Fabbi Age: 37 Associate Dean UNLV Libraries A self-described bookworm and fifth generation Southern Nevadan, Jen Fabbi made her initial foray into the library sciences industry at the age of 14, when she secured a part-time job shelving books at a local library. Fabbi went on to attend the University of Arizona for both her undergraduate and master���s degrees in information resources and library science, and has been a faculty member at UNLV for 14 years, serving in various capacities, including a stint in the Office of the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, concentrating on the Undergraduate Education reform proposal, which was approved by the Faculty Senate in 2011. A year and a half ago she assumed her current post as associate dean of UNLV Libraries, which comprises the Lied Library, the Architecture Studies Library, the Curriculum Materials Library and the Music Library. Fabbi, who was recently elected to the advisory board of Spread the Word Nevada, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing early childhood literacy, oversees a staff of 40, including 20 faculty librarians, and is responsible for all liaison outreach to academic departments, educational initiatives, campus partnerships, three branch libraries, service desks, public technology, campus communications, and the public face of the campus institutional repository.
