C-2 Church Wednesday, November 29, 2017 The Press-Dispatch Baptist Baptist Continued in next column It's Christmas in the heart that puts Christ- mas in the air. PAWS would love to see some of their old timers find homes for the holidays. So over the next few weeks, some of the pets who seem to get overlooked, because they are too big, or too old, or black will be featured. It's sad to see some of the dogs who came into PAWS years ago, are now dying there. Some have lived their entire life at the shelter never having a family to call their own. If you are consider- ing adopting, give one of these loving animals a home to call their own. This week feature is Jake. He is a large, gen- tle giant, loves human affection and would do best in a home with no PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the JAKE Continued from page 1 Continued on page 3 other dogs. He has short, smooth brown and white fur, soulful green eyes, ap- proximately five years old, neutered and walks well on a leash. To adopt Jake, call 812- 354-9894. Church of God Independent Catholic ready spent over three Bil- lion dollars this year so far. We need to remember we are celebrating the Lord's Birth- day that seems to get lost in all the hustle and bustle of the commercialized holiday. The bringing of the gifts by the wise men was a symbol of the celebration of the ar- rival of the anticipated Mes- siah the one the prophets had foretold. So this let all say BEHOLD Jesus! and Merry Christmas. See our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/Ayrshi- reValleyGB. Frank A. Coleman, Pastor ARTHUR G.B. CHURCH 5670 S. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Mark 10 :45). "The son of God, sur- rounded by endless re- quests and wearied by miles of walking, looked "need" squarely in the face and asked, "What do you want me to do for you? " (Mark 10 :51). He saw the burden, an- other carried and offered to help with the load. In a day when servant-hood is dying for lack of exam- ples and we get all tied up in theological knots over even the meaning of the word, we might do. Well to start where Je- sus did, "What can I do for you? " We don't know what those simple words might do to strengthen our mar- riages as well as our rela- tionships with our children and friends. "Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your in- crease" (Proverbs 3:9). God doesn't "need" our money to get His work done. He is sovereign and could do without our help. Yet He has arranged it so that His work often depends upon our gen- erosity. At least two things happen when we give. First when we give with the right attitude, God reminds us that what we have isn't re- ally ours. He gave us every- thing we have, and it actu- ally belongs to Him. King David prayed, "All things come from you, and of Your own we have given You" (I Chronicles 29:14). We need to learn the truth. Second, when we give, we help meet the needs of oth- ers whom God also loves. By giving to others we testify to God's love for them, and we point them to the greatest gift of all—God's gift of His son for our salvation. God wants us to be channels of blessing to others. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I'm sure you will leave feeling blessed. May God bless each and every one. Help and Blessing God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. (Hebrews 6:10, K JV ). Well we all have had times when we think that we do so much and receive so little. Even when done out of love it is a hard thing to make sure that you are doing these labours for glory of God and not yourself. This verse is there to remind us that God sees that you are helping, and does not put you in the place to help as an injustice to you, but as a blessing for you to have the chance to help someone else and prove that you are a true child of God.
