Officers found two used hypodermic syringes and a glass tube with burnt residue lying in plain view beside Bates where he was found on the floor of a shed. deputy Osgatharp interviewed Vanessa robinson, the property owner, and then contacted Pike County Prosecutor darrin Mcdon- ald to obtain a search warrant for evidence of dealing and possession of methamphetamine. Twenty-nine drug related items in the living room area of a shed on the prop- erty were listed on the probable cause affidavit. The affidavit contains seven charges for both Bates and rob- inson that include dealing meth- amphetamine, possession, main- taining a common nuisance, pos- session of a syringe, possession of schedule I, II, III, IV and V drugs, possession of marijuana and pos- session of paraphernalia. Bates, and robinson, were each charged with seven counts on Tuesday January 3. smoking devices, baggies that tested positive for methamphet- amine, needles, marijuana roaches, several scales and a blender with several substances including mar- ijuana were listed in the affidavit. Kenneth Hyatt, 39, 1030 Maple ave., Princeton, who had directed officers to the Campbelltown ad- dress was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, visiting a common nuisance and possession of para- phernalia after evidence of those charges was found in a grocery bag with a pill bottle with Hyatt's name on it McCandless charged with OVWI prior By James Capozella Press-dispatch news news@pressdispatch.net a traffic stop for speeding on Cr 475e on January 4 turned into an operating while intoxicated prior arrest for Tamara J. McCandless, 47, 3966 s Cr 225e, Winslow. Indiana state Trooper James H. Manning clocked McCandless driving a 2009 Ford 56 mph in a 45 mph zone according to the report. Trooper Manning reported that McCandless was consistently flail- ing her arms and was unable to keep still, indication of Metham- phetamine use. With assistance from Trooper John davis, Manning had McCandless perform stan- dard field sobriety tests and also checked her license status which was a regular identification card. McCandless failed field sobriety tests and had a 0.00 percent test on a PBT. she was transported to the Pike County Jail and charged with OV WI prior. Winslow man charged with OVWI refusal after one vehicle crash By James Capozella Press-dispatch news news@pressdispatch.net Indiana state Trooper Casey Boeckman came upon a one-vehi- cle accident on High Banks road while patrolling sr 56 around 9 p.m. on december 29. david C. Glaser, 53, 204 s Ma- riah street, Winslow, told Troop- er Boeckman that he had left the Legion and was heading to Jasper when he drove through the Ca- to-Winslow intersection, hitting a ditch and then a tree according to the report. When talking with Glaser, Trooper Boeckman noticed slow and very slurred speech and a confused/disoriented demean - or. Boeckman noticed glassy and bloodshot eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage prior to the ad- ministration of standardized field sobriety testing. Glaser failed the tests and refused a PBT and a certified chemical test. Boeckman trans- ported Glaser to the Pike County Jail where he was booked on the charge of OV WI refusal. Castillo-Ortez arrested on seven charges By James Capozella Press-dispatch news news@pressdispatch.net a traffic stop on the evening of January 4 on I69 turned into an arrest involving seven driving and drug-related charges. Pike County sheriff deputy Bri- ar Meadors stopped a 2005 Chevy driven by Julio Cesar Castillo-Or- tez for weaving and hindering traffic flow. a fter field sobriety tests, a search of the vehicle and a certified chemical test, Ortez was charged with OV WI (endanger- ment, controlled substance and alcohol), possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, oper- ator never licensed and reckless driving. Ortez and his passenger were identified through a us resident Indentification card and a us Pass- port respectively. Officers found open containers of alcohol, burnt marijuana, a grinder, rolling paper and raw marijuana. Ortez failed field sobriety tests and agreed to a chemical test. Meadors was assisted by deputy Clint Boger who also transported Ortez to daviess Community Hos- pital for the chemical test (.122) and positive urine screen for mari- juana. The report stated that Ortez said he had smoked about two or three hours earlier and was leaving his old residence in Jasper to go to evansville. Winslow man arrested for OVWI and resisting By James Capozella Press-dispatch news news@pressdispatch.net The report of a crashed and abandoned vehicle near Cr 475s resulted in OV WI and resisting law enforcement for eric Hum- phrey, 37, of 732 s sr 61, Winslow on december 28. Humphrey was driving a yellow Jeep with front end damage and resting on a big rock when Pike County deputy Jared simmons contacted Humphrey and Oakland City Police officer McGre- gor at the site of the damaged Jeep. Humphrey said he had been at the scene for about two hours af- ter losing control of the vehicle on snow. deputy simmons noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage and also observed lethargic speech, bloodshot and watery eyes. Hum- phrey failed standard field sobriety tests and had a PBT of .115 BaC. Humphrey resisted law enforce- ment while being placed in his seat belt and unbuckled it and wouldn't stay in the patrol car according to the report. He then attempted to kick deputy Kane Osgatharp who placed him on the ground to stop his kicking. While in route to the jail, Humphrey apologized for his behavior according to the report. Galloway cited for possession following crash By James Capozella Press-dispatch news news@pressdispatch.net Pike County deputy sheriff Bri- ar Meadors issued a citation and summons for seth a. Galloway, 30, for possession of paraphernalia after Galloway's 2017 Honda was found parked on the south entry ramp to Interstate 69 off sr 61 on January 18. Galloway told Meadors that he had crashed into the guard rail around midnight after attempting to avoid hitting a coyote. during the investigation, Meadors recog- nized the odor of marijuana com- ing from the vehicle and Galloway said there was a small amount in the vehicle. smoking pipes were found in a green Crown royal bag which was confiscated, according to the report. Galloway told deputy Meadors he was driving home from work in Jasper and had al - ready called McCarty's Towing from Owensboro to recover the Honda and take him home. Galloway was issued a misde- meanor summons for January 31 in Pike Circuit Court. He had a pre- vious charge on January 18, 2021 for possession of paraphernalia in Posey County according to the report. Myers charged with OVWI refusal By James Capozella Press-dispatch news news@pressdispatch.net a call from dispatch referencing a car in the ditch on Cr 200e be- came an OV WI refusal arrest for Cathi L. Myers, 73, 1783e Private road 485n, Petersburg. Pike County sheriff deputy Kane Osgatharp was dispatched to a one vehicle accident where Myers slid off the road into a ditch while driving her 2015 Ford home. depu- ty Jason McKinney arrived in plain clothes to assist deputy Osgatharp who witnessed Myers in the front seat of the car which was just past the road where she lives, according to the report. after Osgatharp noticed red and glossy eyes, a lack of focus, the lack of the ability to stand and the odor of an alcoholic beverage, he administered a PBT but Myers had insufficient breath for the test. Myers failed standard field sobri- ety tests that could be performed in her condition according to the report. she fell once and needed to hold deputy Osgatharp's hand for balance. Myers had said she was okay and not that bad and had back problems. Myers told officers that she lived in Chicago and that they (police) would let you go. When placed in the patrol car, Myers sat on the floorboard think- ing it was the seat, according to the report. she was then assisted to the seat and transported to Pike County Jail for booking on the OV WI refusal charge.
