Poplar Street, Petersburg Pew research says 39% of americans be- lieve we are "living in the end times." all around us, things are shifting, systems are collapsing, and institutions are failing. It is a time of the great Biblical 'reset.' an uncovering in which Mother earth and Fa- ther sky are pushing us toward a final divine reckoning. The problem we're having is that Christianity is under assault in what were once Christian nations. Church leaders who should be defenders of the faith often lead the assault. Queen elizabeth II's former chaplain, Gavin ashenden, warns that a "multicultural, multi- faith King Charles III threatens British mon- archy." British monarchs take an oath to defend the Protestant religion. specifically, the British monarch serves as the supreme governor of the Church of england. ashenden warns that Christians in the u.K. are increasingly marginalized. ashenden quit his chaplain position in 2017 after condemning recitations of the Koran during an epiphany service at st. Mary's Cathedral in Glasgow. He sternly reminds the King, "The problem is that you're a defender of the faith or you're not." united Methodist leaders like to brag about how inclusive the united Methodist church is. There is room for everyone under the tent they boast, including clergy and congregants who reject Jesus' divinity and scripture as being au- thoritative. Jesus did not teach "inclusiveness." Jesus taught the way to God was "exclu- sive." He declared himself to be the "door of the sheepfold." no one can enter except through him. sounds exclusive to me. He also said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. no one comes to the Father except through Me." so much for 'all religions lead to God'. Jesus gives a very fitting warning for Methodists, "a house divided cannot stand." In the past several months, more than 100 Methodist churches in Indiana and nearly 3,000 nationwide have disaffiliated from the parent church. Thousands more are on cue to follow in 2023. Why the exodus? The institutional church has fallen into the inclusive trap. Loving everyone means loving the sinner and the sin. They have redefined what sin is and what God's word says. The 10 commandments have become the 10 friendly suggestions. Many church leaders and clergy have forsaken their duty to defend the faith. The orthodox believer rejects this inclusive- ness. defending the faith starts at home. you see signs saying, "and if it seems evil to you to Well, we have had our first full week of 2023 and so far it has been going pretty good. The decorations for Christmas in the Park are al- most down and stored for next year. Pastor steve has been leading us with our work. We have worked only two days and have gotten done what they have done. It is nice to see a younger person take care of much of it. It isn't wrong to age but it does slow you down some. Tuesday, Jan. 3 was Wyatt's first day back to school and I do think he was ready. Mama and Papa don't have the fancy electronics he has at home so he is always ready to go home to play games with his father. He has to settle for calmer games when he is with us. The Charger cub league had another game this past saturday and the kids are gaining more basketball skills with each game. If noth- ing detours a few of them, our basketball teams could and should be filled with good players. Both sets of grandparents babysit for Wil- low and more or less share the sitting so there are days we don't have to watch her. she has always been a good kid and she is usually fun to be around but she is like the rest of us and has an off day once in awhile. It's hard to imagine but even little children develop a personality at an early age and some do things close to how an adult would. Willow has a way of being funny and the way she ap- proaches life as it comes to pass. One day I was in the mood to get something useful accomplished so I checked our smoke alarm batteries. We have 4 smoke alarms and carbon dioxide sensors in our home and two of them needed the batteries changed. It is rec- ommended to check them on a holiday each year. Pick a holiday so you will get used to checking them. I had my yearly non-invasive eKG and ul- tra sound of my heart last week and to the un- trained eye I didn't see much to worry about with my heart. The same old junk I have been dealing with for quite some time doesn't ap- pear to be much worse. I must say the doctors I go to seem to keep me going. I wonder about the congressman who kept running to be speaker.
