Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. rob Henson, Pastor Wesleyan OTWELL WESLEYAN CHURCH 2277 n. Mechanics street Otwell Pastor 812-354-3028 sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; morning worship at 10:30 a.m.; sunday evening worship service at 6:30 p.m. roy stilwell, Pastor POINTS Continued from page 1 serve the LOrd, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the river, or the gods of the amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LOrd," Josh- ua 24:15. What does it mean to serve the Lord? Jesus gives us the answer, "If you love Me, keep My commandments," John 14:15. For the progressive "woke," keeping his commandments is cherry-picking new Tes- tament (and Old Testament) scriptures and distorting and manipulating them to fit their ideology. For them, Je- sus is all Love and affirma- tion—with no repentance and accountability! They re- ject most of Paul's epistles and especially the Book of revelation. To the 'woke,' Jesus is a warm and fuzzy God who could pass for a 1960s hip- pie preaching love and non- violence. He would cheer the protesters demanding abor- tion rights for every woman. Christ would be among the protesters in Portland and Minneapolis, encouraging them to burn their city down. They portray him as a social justice warrior who spreads liberation theology to the downtrodden mass- es instead of 'repent, for the Kingdom is at hand'! Their depiction of Jesus would confuse the apostles, who knew him intimately. To love God is to keep aLL his commandments, including the ones that condemn sex- ual immorality. The institutional church has abandoned the faith once delivered unto the saints. It has lost its first love. It is dead, just like the church in sardis. God is the God of the liv- ing and not the dead. Christians who still believe scripture is authoritative and Jesus is divine are fleeing the institutional church, heeding the words of Paul to "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you." They are rejecting the nursery-rhyme-feel-good- message of today's contem- porary church. In 2023, woke church- es will continue to die. The "'old time religion" church- es will grow. Which church are you at- tending? PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 hard as he was and still los- ing votes I believe I would have stepped aside so the position could be filled. He did win after fifteen votes were taken so I guess his persistence paid off for him. One of the things I need to adjust this year is my weight and big belly so my wife and I bought a new pair of scales so we can try to curb some of our eating habits. Just may- be we can have a healthier new year. Church and sunday school last sunday was good. Our sunday school teacher is still teaching about prayer. We are told to watch and wait as well as be willing to be able to deny self so oth- ers might have more. do not always want your way about things and learn to follow others at times. I always do and always will ask you to be a blessing for others and to reap your blessings while they are available. DIESEL When you take in a dog and give it a home, that ani- mal will forever hold a very special place in your heart. Cherish them while you have them, recognize their constant contribution to your life, and be grateful each day that you made the monumental choice to res- cue a dog. This week PaWs fea- tures a fun fellow named diesel, who is a high en- ergy dog that loves to play and have fun. He can chase a ball for hours and is very rambunctious. He is a ter- rier/coonhound mix with short soft, fawn and white fur, warm brown eyes and is approximately one and a half years old. He can be adopted by calling 812- 354-9894.
