On December 11, Daniel J. Slagle, 19, 138 W Adams St., Frank- lin, was issued a summons for reck- less driving after Indiana State Police Trooper Casey Boeckman clocked him driving 112 mph in the northbound lane at mile marker 48 on I69. A fter Trooper Boeckman caught up to and stopped the vehicle, Slagle said he knew why he had been stopped. Boeckman told Slagle he had put a lot of lives at risk including himself and his passenger by driving 112 mph. Boeck- man witnessed multiple cars being passed including one time Slagle drove upon a car in the passing lane that was dangerously close to a crash. On December 18, Pike County Sher- iff's Deputy Briar Meadors stopped a 2015 Chrysler for no tail lights after dark on SR 257. Jeffery Webster, 48, 7205 SCR 140E, Washington, explained after the stop that it was his mother's car and he was unfamiliar with the lights. Meadors received a driving sta- tus return of suspended-prior on Web- ster's Indiana ID card. Webster was is- sued a misdemeanor summons for the offense and also a verbal warning for driving without tail lights. On December 20, Indiana State Po- lice Trooper James H. Manning made a traffic stop for an obscured license plate on a 1998 Chevrolet pickup driv- en by Ashley N. Maxfield, 33, 5368W CR 550N, Petersburg. When stopped at Fifth Street and Poplar, Maxfield told Trooper Manning she had to go to the store and had no one to drive her. She also told Trooper Manning that she did not have her license and that it was suspended. Maxfield was cited for suspended prior with a court date of January 24. When released, Maxfield parked her vehicle at the liquor store lo- cated on Fifth St. near Poplar St. Nelson arrested for OVWI prior By James Capozella Press-Dispatch News news@pressdispatch.net On Tuesday, December 20, Bret A. Nelson, 62, 1719 E McCoy St., Peters- burg, drove to the Pike County Jail for an interview with Deputy Kane Os- gatharp concerning a case and end- ed up charged with operating a vehi- cle while intoxicated with a prior con- viction. Nelson exhibited signs of drug intoxication and eventually said he had used marijuana, following his failure of standard field sobriety tests. While enroute to Daviess Communi- ty Hospital, Nelson refused the chem- ical test because he knew it would be positive for marijuana. Nelson was booked into the Pike County Jail af- ter he said he had used marijuana that morning. Huntingburg man arrested for OVWI By James Capozella Press-Dispatch News news@pressdispatch.net A December 19 traffic stop on White River Avenue for no brake lights, weav- ing and failure to use a turn signal re- sulted in OV WI charges for Joseph T. Brock, 29, 2837 S CRW, Huntingburg by Indiana State Trooper Casey Boeck- man. While Brock was explaining to Trooper Boeckman that he knew his brake lights and turn signals did not work, Boeckman noticed Brock had slurred speech and would not look at Boeckman. When asked if he had any- thing to drink, Brock said he had a bottle of wine earlier. During the stop, Brock also said the plates on his truck were false and fictitious. Brock failed field sobriety tests, was .103 BAC on a portable breath test and tested .084 grams 30 minutes later at the Pike County Jail He was charged with OV WI above .08 first offense.
