State Rd. 61 • Winslow 812-354-8701 Charger Moments By Principal Dan Gaffney Reflect and recharge We are officially finished with the first semester of the 2022/2023 school year and are now enjoying Christmas vacation. It's a time to reflect on our blessings of fami- ly and friends, and recharging for the second semester. A great deal of effort has been put forth by both students and staff, so in celebration PCHS students enjoyed festive activi- ties the last day of school. As we reflect and recharge through the Holidays, our maintenance crew will work diligently on even more up- dates to our facility. We are ex- cited for our new bell system to be installed during Christ- mas break, enabling the High School and Middle School to be on their own bell schedules. Updated equipment will enable us to have music in the hallways for establish- ing a climate of pro- fessionalism and addi- tional speakers in the office will enhance se- curity measures. Our athletic programs con- tinue to prosper, yielding scholarships for four of our 2022/2023 seniors, as they signed their National Letters of Intent to further their ath- letic and academic careers at the collegiate level. • Alyna Sharp: Oakland City University (Softball) • Kendric Sorgius: Oakland City University (Baseball) • Peyton Chanley: Earlham (Track and Cross-Coun- try) • Chloe Williams: Ken- tucky Wesleyan (Softball) Academically, Pike Central High School's very own Rea- gan Craig received the distin- guished honor of receiving the Lily Scholarship. The stu- dent must be in the top 10 % in the class, demonstrate a com- mitment to community activ- ities outside of school and be interviewed by the scholar- ship committee. This reward covers four years of FULL tu- ition to any accredited private or public college in Indiana. A big congratulations to both Reagan and her family. Our Greenpower team was on the move again as they competed in the Santa Sprints in Columbus, Geor- gia Saturday, December 9. They placed second overall in the advanced modified divi- sion. Wishing the Greenpow- er team continued success as they continue to compete at the highest levels. • Rya Graves • Hannah Mosby • Emily Herrera • Josh Amacher • Clay Galloway Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Hap- py New Year. We are grateful for all of the support from our staff, Assistant Superinten- dent, Superintendent, School board, students, and parents.
