ON THE RECORD Raney charged in dog bite By James Capozella Press-Dispatch News news@pressdispatch.net A non-immunized Siberian Husky had to be put down after biting Shel- don Reynolds of Winslow on the fore- arm on November 21. The 1:06 p.m. bite occurred when Reynolds and own- er Matthew Raney were trying to get the dog back into its yard at 304 S Ma- riah Street after it had killed a beagle. Raney was later charged with harbor- ing a non-immunized dog resulting in bodily injury. Pike County Sheriff's Deputy Bryce Manning responded to the call from Reynolds to dispatch since there were no Winslow officers available. Upon ar- rival, Deputy Manning saw Reynolds was being treated by EMS and that the Husky was standing over a beagle that it had killed. Manning spoke with David Glasser, who had a catch pole, but said he was unable to get close enough to the dog to use it. A fter it was confirmed that the husky was not vaccinated and that it would not allow anyone near it, Man- ning decided to put the dog down. Mat- thew Raney, the dog's owner, had told deputy Manning previously that Man- ning would have to shoot his dog ac- cording to the report. Deputy Manning wrote a report on the bite and Deputy Briar Meadors took the report to the Pike County Health Department which in turn re- trieved the head of the animal for ra- bies testing. Otwell man cited for possession By James Capozella Press-Dispatch News news@pressdispatch.net A traffic stop on SR61 in Winslow on December 1 by Indiana State Trooper Casey Boeckman resulted in an arrest for possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia for Spencer L. Peaugh, 46, 9521 E Madi- son St., Otwell. Peaugh was traveling north on SR 61 when Trooper Boeckman observed him actively using a cell phone while driving a Jeep. When Trooper Boeckman activated his lights to stop Peaugh for the dis- tracted driving infraction, the Jeep turned onto North Street and weaved in and out of his lane. Boeckman used his emergency siren several times to get the vehicle to stop after a couple blocks. A distracted driving warning was printed for Peaugh but then when Boeckman gave Peaugh the citation he noticed he was nervous and had been moving things in the Jeep's console. Deputy Jared Simmons assisted at the scene for a consented search which turned up a glass smoking device with white crystal inside. Peaugh admitted to using the cell phone and then even- tually told Boeckman that he had a bag of meth in his right sock. Peaugh told the officers that he had pried open a magnetic lock box he found attached under his Jeep and was adamant about confronting his son about it. Peaugh's girlfriend's father took possession of the vehicle, his dog and gun per Peaugh's wishes. Peaugh was transported to the Pike County Jail for possession of metham- phetamine and possession of parapher- nalia. Velpen woman charged with domestic battery By James Capozella Press-Dispatch News news@pressdispatch.net A welfare check on December 4 by Bernard Williams resulted in domestic battery charges for Bambi Renee Wy- att, 44, 4692S Second Street, Velpen. Pike County Deputy Buck A. Seger was told by Williams that Bambi Wy- att was in a physical altercation the pri- or evening and had given the victim a black eye. Deputy Seger interviewed the vic- tim and observed a fresh bruise on the woman's eye. Seger was told that Wyatt had punched her in the eye and she al- so had bumps where she was hit on the back of the head. When talking with Wyatt about the incident, she said she didn't know anything because she was sleeping and that she didn't remember anything. Seger advised Wyatt she was being arrested for domestic battery but refused to get into the patrol car. Seger reports he had to forcibly place her in the patrol car and then trans- ported her to the Pike County Secu- rity Center without further incident. Green charged with trespass on Blondin property By James Capozella Press-Dispatch News news@pressdispatch.net A long standing dispute over the ex- istence of a county road on property be- longing to Arthur D. Blondin and Mark A. Green, 3813 S CR 225E was resolved by Pike County officials, Pike County Highway Superintendent Josh Byrd, Norfolk Southern Railroad track su- pervisor Joshua Scott and Indiana State Trooper John Davis. Blondin had contacted Trooper Da- vis concerning a Kubota UT V utilizing trails that he maintained on his proper- ty on October 31 and on December 1. Trail camera footage resulted in a tres- passing summons for Green. Green contended that a lane go- ing through Blondin's property was a county road and that was access to his property and had been that way for at least 50 years. Green said they had al- ways went into the property that way and crossed railroad tracks. Green was told by Trooper Davis on October 31 that courthouse records show no ease- ment and that trespass tickets would be issued if people continued to go down the property. Green said, "I'm not stopping going down through there." The railroad tracks are also involved in the dispute and Norfolk Southern Railroad Track Superintendent Joshua Scott told Trooper Davis that they do not access the railroad from the Blon- din property nor have they ever. Walk- ing across or down the railroad other than a public crossing is a violation of Indiana Code (8 -3-15 -3), a Class B Mis- demeanor. Davis was contacted by Blondin on November 24 concerning tree clear- ing and logs being moved with a Kubo- ta UT V. Trail camera footage clearly showed that Green was the one on Blondin's property. Green was issued a summons to appear for violation of IC35 -43-2-2 (trespassing) on Decem- ber 1, 2022.
