Golfers win one tie one and in good position at PAC By Andy Heuring South Gibson Sports sports@sgstartimes.com Gibson Southern's golf team won one, tied one and are in good shape in the PAC following a three-day rain de- lay. The Titans got off to a good start Saturday at Sultan's Run in Jasper, where the Pocket Athletic Conference tourna- ment is being hosted. Coach Matt Reinbrecht said the Titans' five players had completed 10 to 12 holes, when they were pulled off the course for the second time Saturday and the tournament was postponed until Tuesday. "Not too bad," said Rein- brecht of the Titans' play so far. He added, "Everyone got off to a much better start, but there is a lot of golf still to be played." On the previous Saturday, the Titans played in the Jasper Invitational at Sultan's Run and on the first hole, four of their first five players double bogeyed or worse. This time all but one had made par. Reinbrecht said Peyton Blackard was through 10 holes and was one under. Se- niors Ryan Islam and Cale Martin had both shot 41s on the front nine and Mitchell Gilles was at 46 or 47. "I don't know where we stand with the other teams," said Reinbrecht. On Monday, the Titans beat Mater Dei and North Posey in a triangle meet at Cambridge. The Titans shot a team 164 to beat Mater Dei's 168. Blackard was the medal- ist with a 36. Martin brought home a 40, while Islam had a 41 and Dawson Maurer a 47. On Tuesday, the Titans tied Evansville Memorial with both shooting 166. Blackard was again medal- ist with a 36.
