The 200 medley relay, where she teamed with Easton Bailey, Kylie Meyer and Kaydee Sims took first in 2:58.91, al- most 24 seconds ahead of second. Meny also teamed with Bailey, Myers and Kylee Weathers to win the 400 free- style relay in a time of 5:55.64, more than 22 seconds ahead of second. Meyer along with her wins in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay won the 50 fly in a time of 44.3. Bailey added two individual second place finishes to her two relay team wins. She placed second in the 100 IM with a time of 1:37.2 and second in the 100 free with in 1:29.26. Kylee Weathers added a first in the 50 backstroke in a time of 48.89. Kaydee Sims won the diving event. GIRLS BEAT SOUTHRIDGE, BOYS LOSE Pike Central split the boys and girls meets with Southridge on Thursday nights with the girls winning 90 -52 and the boys losing 79 -67. The girls won all three relays, sweep- ing first and second in the 200 free and 400 free as well as winning five individu- al events to lead them to victory. Easton Bailey won four events. She won the 200 free in a time of 3:18.88 and was a member of all three winning re- lay teams. Bailey along with Hope Meny, Kylie Meyer and Kaydee Sims won the 200 medley relay in 2:54.62. Bailey teamed with Elle Readle, Kyle Meyer and Christina Wenzel to win the 200 free relay and then Meny, Weather and Meyer in the 400 free relay for a win- ning time of 5:55.51. Weathers along with being on the win- ning 400 relay team won the 100 individ- ual medley in a time of 1:39.11. She also won the 100 free in 1:25.56. Other individual winners were K. J. Wood in diving and Lindsey Wood in the 50 backstroke with a time of 44.61. The boys were led by Awstyn Luff who won three events. Individually he won the 50 fly in 26.76 seconds and then the 50 back in a time of 30.43. Luff teamed with Julian Hay, Jacoby Smith and Tyler Collins to win the 200 medley relay in 2:31.7. Smith along with being part of the win- ning 200 medley relay team won the 50 breast in 39.47. Zane DeCoursey placed second in the 50 free. BOYS AND GIRLS DROP SEASON OPENERS WITH TELL CITY Pike Central's boys and girls middle school swimmers opened their seasons with Tell City on Tuesday night. The boys fell to Tell City, 106 -53 and the girls 107-56, but both had some bright spots. "Our swimmers did their best with it being the first meet of the short season and with some cancellations of practices, due to winter weather in February," said Charger coach Andrew Russell. On the girls side, Hope Meny, swim- ming in her first swim meet won the 50 yard breaststroke in a time of 47.78, which was nearly six seconds ahead of second place. "That is fantastic for a 6th grader in her first meet," said Russell. Markis Hutchinson, an 8th grader, won the boys diving with 53.45 points. "He scored a 6 in his very first dive in a com- petition, which is fantastic," said Russell. Awstyn Luff broke the 50 butterfly re- cord with a 27.07. It eclipsed Lukas Hill's record of 28.23, set in 2014. Hill went on to set several records in high school for Pike Central. "That is a very fast time," said Russell of Luff's time. On the girls side, the 200 medley re- lay team of Easton Bailey, Kylie Meyer, Kylee Weathers and Meny won in a time of 2:44.10 . Kaydee Sims placed second and Eva Cox third in the 50 free in times of 42.75 and 46.05 respectively. Easton Bailey placed second and Zoey Barrett fourth in the 100 free. Kylie Meyer placed third in the 50 fly in a time of 53.45. Lindsey Woods was second in the 50 back at 45.54. Jacoby Smith was second in the 50 yard breast- stroke in 38.30. The 400 free relay team of Meyer, Bailey, Weathers and Christina Wenzel placed second in a time of 6:21.68.
