SO IT RUNS. Semi-truck trapped in Meadowbrook Last Wednesday morning, a semi-truck driver from Alabama, trying to detour around the Highway 61 road rehab project in Petersburg, got into Meadowbrook and was unable to get out. Petersburg Police Chief Kyle Mills said the truck turned off Highway 61 onto Harvest Lane. Then at the first sharp turn was unable to go to his right like local traffic. So he went left and drove all the way around Meadowbrook, damaging seven yards along the way. He was unable to get out due to the large concrete barricades put in place last week. Mills said the driver was cited with a frost ordinance violation that carries up to a $2,500 fine. Mills said the situation is getting better on the no trucks detour. He said a new sign put just on this side of the White River Bridge on Highway 61 alerts drivers. He said on Monday, a driver saw the new signs and turned around in a nearby parking lot. County Commissioner Jeff Nelson said last week, GPS mapping showed Harvest Lane as a detour, but on Monday, it changed that to reflect the no truck detour. Highway Superintendent Josh Byrd said the truck driver was trapped until county units moved the barricades to allow him out of the neighborhood.
