The Charger junior varsi- ty team faced off against Vin- cennes Lincoln on Tuesday, January 11, losing by a score of 44-36. In the first half of the game, the JV started off slow on their scoring, letting some plays through by the Alices, leav- ing them at a six-point defi- cit by halftime. During the second half of the game, the Chargers hit the court ready to win and pulled together some good defense, scoring 24 points through the half. However this was not enough to get them to the lead, with the Alices scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter of the game. The lead scorer for the game was Jagar Dent with a tally of 11 points. Follow- ing him were Albert White- head with nine, Drew Daw- son and Brenton Fryrear with five points each, Chase Ridao with three, Barrett Cooper with two points and Zane Ge- hlhausen with one point. FRIDAY, JANUARY 14 Pike Central's junior varsi- ty boys went on to play against the Heritage Hills Patriots on Friday, suffering a loss of 62- 46. In the first half of the game, the Chargers seemed to be a little off their game, letting lots of points through and scoring some good points, but not enough to keep up with the Patriots. This left them at a huge point disadvantage by halftime with the score being 34-15. At the beginning of the second half of the game, you could tell that the Chargers had pulled together and were ready to fight for the win. They got off several good shots for points, but their defense was still letting through too ma- ny points for them to keep up. The fourth quarter began and the Chargers buckled down and began their battle. Final- ly, they were able to get some stops and hold down some good defense. However, even with them scoring 19 points to the Patriots' six for the quar- ter, the damage had already been done and the Chargers lost by a 16 -point deficit. SATURDAY, JANUARY 15 The Charger junior varsity boys' team played the Wood Memorial Trojans for their Homecoming game on their home court. The game began and you could tell that the school ri- valry was real. The Chargers were bound and determined to win this game. The teams were closely matched and by the halftime buzzer, the Char- gers were tied with the Tro- jans 20 -20. During the third quarter of the game, the Char- gers battled for the lead and at- tained it with some good plays and defensive strategy. By the end of the quarter, they had stepped out in the lead by five points. Seeing this, the Char- gers buckled down even hard- er. They ended up scoring an astounding 15 points through- out the fourth quarter, blow- ing the Trojans out of the wa- ter and winning the game by a score of 42-30.
