SWIM Continued from page 1 Freshman Chargers defeat North Posey by three By Matthew Haycraft The Pike Central Charger freshman boys' basketball team faced off with North Posey on Wednesday, Janu- ary 12, defeating them by a score of 28 -25. The freshman boys' team hit the court ready to play, but were a little slow on the scoring in the first quarter of the game. However in the sec- ond quarter of the game, they picked up the scoring and be- gan to harden their defense. A fter the halftime break, the Charger boys came out with more energy than in the be- ginning and held back North Posey while still scoring some good goals during the second half of the game. Coach Mohammed said, "This is the best complete game that the freshman team has played all year. It was a solid team effort, I am proud of the players. The entire team was locked in and showed great determination to pull off this win. We cut down un- forced errors this game which was huge for us. Our goal is to build on this showing to get to where we want to be." "The team is growing and has the potential to be very good. Dawson can score and attack the basket. Meadows played a strong game and showed that he can be a lead- er on the floor. Meece has improved every single game and shot and handled the ball well tonight. Whann always plays hard and is a strong re- bounder. Cooper played a sol- id all around game. Newkirk and Besing played solid off of the bench. This team needs court time and to just contin- ue learning and growing they have a lot of talent, but need to build the habits to be consis- tent. If they continue to work hard and do things the right way, the basketball culture at Pike Central will be in good hands in the future." "The team played hard and had fun. That is all a coach can ask for. It felt good, and we will continue to strive for success every day."
